Hey guys,
I recently bought a mini fridge for my dorm, and I bought skim milk from Stop and Shop, just to drink some as I snack... but I just got a cup of skim milk and I noticed that the top layer of the milk got kinda chunky... like there were no odors coming from the milk, and the milk chunks kinda dissolved as it hit the roof of my mouth and came under some kind of pressure... there's so real difference in taste either, what's going on?

Are you sure it wasn't just some ice crystals? Next time maybe give the milk a little shake, before pouring. And always check the expiry date.

was it really chunky, kinda like cheese (cottage cheese )? because if so then your milk was expired and the chunky stuff are actual cheese ... do not drink that milk but if it was a thin layer that stays stick together when you try to remove it then your milk is good and safe to drink ( the top layer formed because you over heated your milk)

Yes, it's safe to drink. Milk will form a 'skin' on top when it's heated, from the fat and protein content. It might look 'icky', but it is harmless.

Yuk--dump it. Many years ago I accidentally drank a guzzle of milk that had a few chunks in it and am now really leery of milk if it's around more than a few days. That was truly disgusting!!!!!

It might be frozen. If it didn't taste much different than that's probably what it is especially if it doesn't taste any different. Just turn down the temp on your fridge and see if that helps.

It isn't turning into cheese. It is going bad. I wouldn't drink it. Bad milk is so nasty.

I think it's starting to turn into cheese. I still drink it if it isn't old yet though.
