My son is turing 11 in 2 weeks. His birthday last year was really bleak because we had just moved to a new town and didn't have a place yet, so we were staying with his grandparents and couldn't have a party. I work full time, but don't have much extra money. I want his birthday to be memorable and happy for him. He is the most polite helpful mature ten year old i've ever known and he deserves to have one good day just for himself. He helps me take care of his younger brother with cerebral palsy every day and he never complains or whines. He helps around the house too. Without doing anything illegal, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get some extra money relatively quickly? If not, maybe some ideas about how we can do a good inexpensive party or something to celebrate? Thanks so much.

If you have anything around the house that you can sell that you just don't need, how about trying to sell it on Craigslist? You could also offer to babysit. Craigslist has a childcare section where people are always looking for babysitter or offering childcare.
I wanted to ad that it is really cheap to make your own cake. You can also get decorations, plates, napkins, cups plastic ware and balloons at the $ stores.

have a bake sale or bypass a big party and just let him have a sleepover type get together with some of close friends and maybe take them to do something like lasertag (if you have one near), or stay in and order pizza's (or they can make their own) and take them to rent movies they may wanna see and then you can have a little more money to spend on a great gift, based on what you said about your son I bet he will appreciate whatever you do for him!!

invite a friend, take him to a local swim hole or trail go hiking or fishing. something personal outdoorsy most boys like that type of thing. rent a movie, make a cake call it a night. as for a gift take a favorite picture and frame it you can be creative with things arounnd your house that are special to him. i live on a budget and cant afford to take my kids to do alot of things, but we do alot of nature related things and nature is practicly free. throw together a quick yard sale its a quick hundred bucks if you do a small one. everyone has things to get rid of/ good luck!!

Sell an unused item on Ebay or to the local pawn shop.... Maybe work in the red light district for a few evenings (totally joking) um or do some catalogue delivering or a few evenings of extra work, something small should work for you.

to make money: sell items locally on craigslist.org (find your correct city) OR be a stripper ;)

party on a budget: hot dogs/hamburgers, big tub of punch, & a homemade cake. no one will ever notice that you didnt buy all sorts of fancy drinks & hor de vours... any celebration is special for any child. (coming from a girl who grew up w/o parties) any lil celebration i had~ i remember, & its not the menu & gifts that i recall... its the family & friends celebrating ME! =) good luck
