I was curious what happens when you transfer a church membership. Do you take a test? Or do they simply transfer you? I'm sure all churches are different, this is a Methodist church.

It is generally a very simple procedure.

When the church gives an invitation, usually at the end of the Sunday service, all you do is walk down front and tell the pastor that you want to become a member. This is the more formal method.

If you don't want to do this in front of the congregation, you can go to the Church office during the week and tell them that you want to become a member. You might even be able to do that over the telephone. They will take the information from you that they need. They generally want to know where you were a member prior to this time, and they will write to that church, stating that you are interested in changing your membership from their church to this one. The church where you were a member sends a letter to the new church, and you will become a member immediately. The new church will send you information about the different services they provide.

It's no big deal.

You will tell the church secretary at your new church, and she will write a letter to your old church stating that you wish to transfer your membership.

Then your new church might have a day when they receive new members, and they might ask you questions in front of the congregation (the answers are read together out of the Book of Discipline).

Voila! You are now a member at your new church.

on an identical time as i'm unhappy to pay attention of your determination, I appreciate your freedom of ethical experience. undemanding absence is all this is needed and actually your heart has already left, which counts extra beneficial than your call on a bite of paper. i don't think of you are able to request that your baptismal checklist be destroyed or something like that. you are able to, whether, touch the parish and the diocese and ask them to do away with your call from rosters, mailing lists, club lists, etc. to totally sever ties.

You can transfer your membership but you can't transfer your accumulated points.... so cash them in and go buy a new set of dishes before you switch.
