I'm not afraid of hard labour or anything. Is there anywhere that may need volunteers that I could help with in my area? I'm still in high school so that's why I'm looking for something close to me. I live in the Marietta/ Kennesaw GA area.

Call your School, or the closest Hospital to your home & ask THEM- what you've asked US. There's ALWAYS people who need love & help SOMEWHERE... -always. Good luck! :)

Hands On Atlanta has a great website that allows you to search for projects by area of interest or location. Here are 12 projects in Cobb County:

If none of those appeal to you, here are some other ideas:

You could volunteer at the Smith-Gilbert Arboretum:

You could help raise funds for the Swift-Cantrell Skate Park

You could donate blood or volunteer with the Red Cross

The Kennesaw Charter School needs volunteers

You could help animals by volunteering at Petsmart

If you want to start in your community look for the elderly, they need little odd jobs done all the time but can't do them by themselves. Your neighborhood may need some of the trash picked up around. Also your closest park may need trash picked up or something may need fixing that could keep a kid from getting hurt. Even if you can't fix it you can get someones attention who can. Also you can check your own families smoke detectors and go around the neighborhood reminding everyone especially the elderly and handicapped. You may need to check it for some of them. Good luck and God Bless.

Refer To This Site: http://www.discovergoldenindia.com/

Donate your professional clothes to an organization that helps people get back into the workforce. Give gently worn home furnishings or household appliances to a person or family who might need them or donate them to an organization. Take warm clothes, blankets or food to a homeless person that you often cross paths with. Donate toys and books to a homeless organization. Toys and books are just as important to kids as food and shelter. When shopping, buy a couple extra non-perishable food items and take them to a food drive or pantry. Make an extra serving of dinner and bring it to a homeless person in your neighborhood.

Some ideas:

Local dog or cat no-kill rescue groups.

Contact the United Way.

Contact the Red Cross.

There are so many options and so many worthwhile groups out there. Think about what you enjoy doing, what your skills and talents are, and go from there.
