The family takes him to THE feast, he's 12 years old, parents already know HE'S the son of a GOD, the streets aren't safe (yes even in those times) they leave town WITHOUT him and don't find him for three days. I don't know where to start, with all that's wrong with this story.

Let's not worry about each detail in the bible. If you do, there'll be tons of questions left unanswered.

With a family as large as the one that went up to Jerusalem, it would be easy to "lose" someone, as you put it. Young men as old as Jesus was at the time wouldn't just stick with their parents, but it was common for them to travel with friends or other family members on the way. Believe me, if Jesus didn't want his parents discovering He'd stayed at the temple, He would have no problem doing that.
Besides, what makes you think they knew He was the son of God? They didn't even understand the answer He gave them.
Hope this answers your question!

Maybe at that time, there was plenty of food in the markets and the vendors dont yell at you if you have no money to pay for fruits.
It was considered safe to leave your kids in the market/temple, there were no pervs, evil is unheard of.
They thought he was with the group of kids in the back of the tribal trek to town.

If you read a little bit more closely, you'll realize that he was traveling with a large caravan of family. I'm sure mary and joseph assumed he was with someone in the caravan.

Jesus was not lost. He just went to the synagogue to discuss the elders about God.

He doesn't get lost Mary and Joseph lost him, not that Jesus got lost. They find him after three days.( resurrects after three days)
I think one of the main purpose's of this story is to show us that Jesus always understood he was God. This scripture is best used against people who say that Jesus came to realize he was God.

Jesus says " Why were you searching for me? Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's House?" Jesus was in the synagogue, his Father's house.

Because as the scripture says, they believed he was with other family members in their party.

And wasn't Jesus close to becoming considered a "man" by Jewish customs?

It's just a story.Anyhow, Jesus did not get lost, but humans rarely succeed in locating his true spirit.

He forgot to use his GPS System while driving around in his Navigator. Oh wait he didn't have these things. Why not? He is God, so he should have known how to create them.
