Not really. I'm afraid of being in a lot of pain before I die. I want a fast painless death. But as for an afterlife... there are two outcomes, you die and there is no afterlife. If that's the case, then what do you care? You no longer exist and therefore can't worry about it. And two, there is a God and if you're a good person, chances are you'll go to a good place. I don't believe that any God that created this world would be so stingy with who gets into a good afterlife. I think the catholic church made the Christian God out to be some kind of asshole in order to scare people into following the rules of the church. Whoever created all these animals that kill one another, probably won't be too upset if you took a loaf of bread to eat.

I think it's NOT so much the DEATH that everyone tends to be afraid of ---it's the WAY we die that strikes fear into people. People are afraid that they will die in very severe pain... some will... the lucky ones will die in their sleep, and some will die so filled up with pain meds, they won't barely know they are hurting... I was told 10 months ago that I only had between 2 MONTHS and 5 years to live...obviously I already beat the 2 month prediction and am HOPING to beat the 5 year limit....(2 terminal illnesses)....but I know I am getting sicker every day... I have accepted my coming death but STILL fear it because of the WAY the doctor has said it will happen... No one wants terrible pain to be the last thing they feel....

Yes. It's just the fact that I don't know what to believe anymore. :(
Science is kind of prooving stuff wrong about the Bible. Like the questions about whether Adam and Eve were really the first people on Earth or if cavemen were. I don't want to have any doubts about this stuff though. I WANT to believe that there's heaven and hell. I WANT to believe that Jesus was out savior and all of that stuff. But science is just giving me doubts. :(
I'm afraid of my own death because I'll have my own family by then, and the last thing I want them to do is grieve over me. I'm also afraid I'll die before my parents do. I'm also afraid I'll go to hell because of my doubts. Well now I'm about to cry! lol sorry it's just I have so many questions about death... I"m only in 6th grade (mom's account) for crying out loud! Well thanks for taking the time to read all this crud. It's kinda-sorta long.

I want to say no, but I would definitely be pi$$ed if I died right now. Seriously, I have so much to do still, and I've done so much work that I can't let it go to waste now (I'm specifically speaking about the college application process...it's like I've been going through high school and doing so much work for college that if I die before I even get to go to college, I'l be pi$$ed...even though when I'm dead I won't know the difference, haha.) Also I have a low pain tolerance so I'm out if I die a painful death. But I think I'd rather die from a freak accident than something lame like drowning in the bathtub.

I have a deep seeded fear of death...but I can trace this back to my abandonment issues...I'm deeply terrified of being away from my family and those I love...and death is that ultimate separation. I know for a fact there is an afterlife, and that it is beautiful and blissful and full of love, but it still scares me. There won't be anyone there holding my hand...it will be me and Jesus, and I guess that's slightly intimidating : )

yes. always have been.
i think people are scared because it's so unknown
i mean, no one can really say for sure what it's like, because no one has experienced death to it's fullest extent & returned to tell us about it.
of course, there are many theories and beliefs.
but for me, it's still scary
this might not be very relevant, but i read this thing stephen king once wrote about the unknown being like a closed door
you're scared of it because you don't know what's behind it
but once you open it, it's not so bad.
haha kinda went off topic a little, but hope it helps =]

I don't even believe in death. I believe my body will die, but my spirit is forever. I don't want to die anytime soon, as I enjoy my life, but when I do, I know I'm going to just pass over to the other side, where there is joy and dancing and laughter.

not at all, i'm looking forward to it every single day. but i'm not a suicidal person, i don't even want to inflict pain on my self. but i want my death to be memorable to everyone. those who are afraid of death are those who cling so much to material things. is there something to be afraid of it?
