I'll like to know, when someone uses the term "I was in jail for a D Felony" or It's A D Felony m... what do it mean?

Some states categorize their felonies by letter -- and then assign standard sentences for each category.

In most such systems, an "A" felony is the worst (most severe), while later letter are less severe.

felonies are divided into classes with standard minimum and max sentence. Class A usually being the worst and D is usually the lest worst of the felonies.
