I told a guy I love you and he became the silent type. I know he likes me because he had his own way to tell me but he got all weird...like a rock!

It is always different depending on the age and muturity level of the man . You tell a young sensitive man you love him and he will either be happy or perhaps scared off .
A man in their 20's or 30's will probably be thinking that he will definitely be getting some soon . A fellow in his 40's and 50 's will probably say oh good, I guess I'm allright and can go get some .
As far as your rock goes, be patient with him. He is probably still trying to decide if love is for him or not . Good luck and have fun .

For most guys 'I Love You' means 'my Gf will be happy for a while now that I said it'. In other words it does not mean much to a guy(in general no words do).

Often when a girl says 'I love you' to a guy it's the first sign of her going crazy and down hill from there. most guys don't like the change from just going out to the love bird stage.

I think it's a term that's thrown around too loosely. To me, it means exactly that, "I love you". I don't say it unless I'm sure I mean it though. It can cause problems if said when it's not true.

He may not like you, or you may have scared him. Maybe it made him feel like he's committed to you now, or things are getting too serious and he's not sure if he's ready for that.

It means "I have a responsibility now and I may not be ready for it".
If he's not- screw him!
Go for it- don't hide how you feel. If it's not the same- move on!
