God is not an individual but a sum of all energy combined in the universe, before and after. We cannot see God because God is faceless-----God is an energy that can only be felt and seen through its effects. We are created in God's image because we are also derived from the same energy. You cannot prove God because God is FACELESS. Jesus' teachings are quite misunderstood and adapted in such a comprehensible way to suit the capacity of the old folks' understanding.

God is the source of all energy...and energy cannot be destroyed. There is nothing that God is not.

Einstein's theory of relativity is the proof of God.

2007-09-23 17:16:46 · update #2

egn....yes to all of that. It is not limited to a bolt of electricity but everything, including the expanding universe. If we dissect all processes involved....everything ends up with energy in its simplest form and through this a balance is created such as creation and destruction----in order to preserve the energy.

We don't disprove any god. Somehow, they all, without exception, seem unable to leave any shred of their existence behind.

Are you saying you are faceless? In his image and all...

Huh? God is facless yet we are created in his image. Hold on a sec while I grab a mirror....Yup, sure enough I have a face. So you blew your own theory there.

This debate always fascinates me because I was raised a Catholic, did 8 years of CCD so I know what I was taught. I was taught that this god dude is a force not to reckon with cuz he can turn you into a pillar of salt, he thinks nothing of using his super powers to create massive flooding and wipe out entire populations...I am not talking about hurrican Katrine, I am talking about Noah and the Ark. You remember that fable, don't you? Explain to me how he fed all those animals for 40 days and what he did with the pooh-pooh please.

I could go on and on but I won't, you know what I am saying, he has done SEVERLY evil things to HIS people and yet we are supposed to fear the devil. Tell me some stuff the devil did, I don't recall the nuns telling us any horror stories about him.

And explain this, if you would be so kind, why do a lot of people I know who are GOD FEARING and pray and give money to the church suffering through bad times and unexplained deaths? Seems to me all the believers that I know have more "bad luck" than I do.

Shall we dance?

If God is just energy, then how can God have thoughts and make rules and care about people and things? And if humans are made in God's image because we are made from energy, then doesn't that mean that all things are made in God's image, since everything (or at least all living things) are made from energy just the same as people are?

And if God is just energy, then what makes that energy "God" as opposed to just being plain old energy? If you're saying that what people call "God" is just energy (like electricity), then you're basically saying that there is no God. because when people think of "God", they're not thinking of a mindless lightning bolt. They're thinking of a being with a mind that thinks and has feelings.

I like your passion and your points. It is true we see the nature of things and the way the laws of nature work that show what kind of being God is like. Much as we know a tree by its roots.

God does have a face and that is the face of Jesus Christ when he was here on this earth.

You see we consider men brilliant like Issac Newton who derived a mathematical equation for gravity; and Albert
Einstein for General and Special Relativity; and the Kaluza-Klein theory for super string theories. We call these men brilliant for discovering the nature of the universe. And that we as Christians acknowledge the wisdom of man.

But those laws of nature existed before those brilliant men even discovered them. Those processes that in some ways explain how the universe was created reflects a wisdom that existed before man ever did. That is the wisdom that theists and Christians say came from God

I hope you are strong because some answers weren't exactly nice. The problem is that we are at a time where only the language of science is universally accepted. It's true. Have you noticed that even creationists accept the scientific method? No other system is as much universally accepted as science. I am not an atheist, so I don't have much to add, except perhaps that you didn't say much about the benefits, if there is any, that knowing about God brought to your life.

In my case, it did not bring me any benefit to believe in God. Moreover, I don't believe that it will bring me any benefit for my afterlife either. Isn't it funny, it is pretty much useless. I still believe in God anyway.

Meditation brings me benefits, but my believe in God is useless in my meditation. However, my experience in my meditation reinforced my believe in God, but it is a side effect. You see, believing in God is not the way to achieve something good, but it is the outcome of good things in your life. So, I don't see why theists try to convince atheists to believe in God. It's useless. Instead, we should give them concrete ways, in the language of science, to obtain good things in their life.

Meditation can have measurable effects. It improves health, decrease anxiety (if there is any), etc. It is important to add that, for most atheists, it will not bring a belief in God. You have to reassure them that meditation will not delusion them in believing in God because, in their view, that's what God is. In my case, I was already a theist, so I just reinterpreted the good results in terms of my belief.

Think about that, even just the idea that meditation, a concrete technique that could be scientifically studied, could bring something important in their life is difficult to accept for many atheists. This is because they don't see the great importance of the inner life, the enormous potential that we have within. This is something concrete, something that can be verified and (at the least in the case of transcendental meditation) has been verified scientifically, and yet they don't get it. One difficulty is that not all meditations are efficient. Also the concept of inner life is associated with God. So, from what they know about meditation, they might think that it is just another delusion. So, I personally think it is pretty much useless and in fact counter productive to try to convince them of the existence of God.

First of all, what's to misunderstand about "Love thy neighbor."? Second, God does have a face, it may not be the one in all of the paintings that we see all over, but IT IS THE FACE OF JESUS! Last, this is for the people already answering this, God doesn't have to prove Himself to you, but the sad thing is, He's going to when you die anyway, and by then, it will be too late for you.

God does have a face. When you see Jesus, you have seen the Father. God gives us the Holy Ghost when we turn from our sins and receive Jesus, God's Son, as our Lord and Savior. It is the Holy Ghost, God Himself, who saves us from eternal damnation. No one comes to the Father without going through Jesus. Now that I have done this, I enjoy an intimate relationship with God as my loving Father.

Atheists do not attempt to disprove God. You can not prove that something does not exist. We simply do not believe in the existence of God. There is a difference.

EDIT- You do not want to get into a debate on Einstein's theory of relativity with me, trust me on this one.

So, now you are telling me the bible is wrong when it wrote god created man in their image?

So you are also telling me god is a piece of sh!t since he is everything?

Now, perhaps you could propose a change to the bible and come up with 2008 revised edition.

Possibly your definition does not really describe a deity.

The tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named
is not the eternal Name.

The unnamable is the eternally real.
Naming is the origin
of all particular things.
