It was reported that active duty military who signed up for another 6 years to be spent in Iraq or Afghanistan would get a bonus of $16,000.00. Later, it was reported that the agreement wouldn't be honored, those who had received the money would have to give it back & still honor to serve the 6 years. I haven't heard anything since. Has anyone else heard how this played out? Does anyone wonder why morale is so bad?

Nobody answered the question, what's happened since this was reported. The bad morale is evidenced by letters written home, the fear on the faces of the men & women serving there, the people who are risking prison time by refusing to go back, the injured who survive long enough to go home, then receive sub-standard medical care & have to sue to get the care that was promised to them. The suicides that have been reported because the vets couldn't deal with the horror of what they had been through. How can anyone who is able to read, watch the news, doubt that morale is a problem? Does anyone think atrocities happen for the fun of it? Get real, people! We have to support these vets now & when they come home. One way we can do that is admitting what they are dealing with now, & how we can help them when they come home.

Your story is a load of crap. If they signed a contract extension that specifically said they would get $16,000, then they will get the money. Yes, sometimes there are delays. But everyone that I have seen re-up has gotten their money, as did I. If the government refuses to honor the bonus payment, that is a breach of contract, and enough reason to be able to get out of the enlistment. Plain and simple. I've never heard of this story. Plus your rambling just sounds like a bunch of liberal tripe. Good try...

I think you ? is very interesting but I have to agree with poster #2, I would say that troop moral is high, weird as it may sound. and I think that has something to do with the fact that some may not support the war but we support the troops!

Good question, I hope someone will be able to answer about the 16k, I think that part is unfair, because these men/women are not paid much to begin with so this money is very crucial for them.

Does anyone wonder why morale is so bad? --
It is bad for one reason and one reason only, because of those here in the US. The citizens in this country want them to fail becuase they are told that is how they should feel. You have shouted at the wounded entering the hospitals, you have glorified the attacks on them, you keep death tolls as though they were football scores. The military knows you hate them and they are losing the will to fight for you.

Just remember they give so you won't have to, they defend you so you can live, they lay down their lives so your children can be spoiled. What will happen when they turn their backs on you as you have on them?
