Of course dogs hear tv.... but it might be different for your dog. If your dog responds to his name and comes to you when you call him then he can hear the tv but if not he might have some hearing problems. Or maybe some dogs just show no emotion to the tv. They dont really care. They have other things on their mind like when are we gonna go for a walk or when can i get this or that. Its normal dont worry!

I have 6 dogs and 3 of them are very sensitive to the tv. They will bark if they hear dogs barking on tv. They will bark if they hear someone knocking on a door on tv. Drives me nuts. They get the others going. Nothing like 6 Danes bursting into a bark fest for nothing! I sleep with the tv on and I know better then to sleep with animal planet on or a channel that will be airing an episode of cops. The dogs go nuts. There is always someones dog barking in hte background on cops.. Animal planet.. self explanatory. I don't know the reason that only 3 do it but just be thankful yours don't because it is very annoying.
I have one female that barked her head off at a large picture of a lab standing in a field that was hanging on hte wall at the vets office. LOL Some have a very keen sense of sight and sound and others, not so much.

Dogs can hear the TV. Some dogs are more sensitive the noises on TV than others. If a dog is raised around the TV they treat is sort of matter-of-factly and don't react to most of its noises. There are certain things on TV that get my dogs attention; the vacuum ad that sounds like squeak toys, dogs barking, cats meowing. The rest of the time she just ignores it.

Dogs do hear the TV dogs have WAY better hearing than humans, that is a fact as well! Most dogs do not bark at a TV when there is noise coming out of it, but they do notice it. Unless the TV is reaching out to attack your dog, your dog will not move.

They do (their hearing is exceptionally more developped than ours) but a dog's reaction to a situation is judged by a multitude of factors ie noise, smell etc therefore the noise alone is not always sufficient to make them react. Also I think they sort of guess that it's not the real world as for example my dog hates hearing the barking of other dogs in the neighbourhood but she doesn't care if she hears it on TV. She adores watching the Simpsons and in fact it's the only program she ever pays attention to and I think because their colour sight is limited, probably cartoons stimulates them more, who knows. But also don't forget that they don't have the same notion of dimension as we do and probably the TV image is quite deformed for them and so is the sound.

Of course they do, they just usually realize that it's not a person or another animal. They don't tend to bark at innanimate objects, that's all. I will say, though, that whenever there's a dominos commercial on tv, and they do the doorbell ring at the end, my dog does start barking and run toward the door. It's funny.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tr.im/eNoWU
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

They can hear it. Maybe he's aware that it's not a "real" dog.
Our shih tzu goes crazy when a dog barks on tv but my westie hears it but could care less. But my westie would go crazy if a dog barked outside...he just knows it's not a "real" dog

Yes they do. Everytime there is another dog on the tv my dog will sit by it. If a doorbell rings on the tv, my dog will run to the front door.
Maybe your dog is used to the sound of the tv and is able to differentiate the difference and knows not to respond to it.

They must realize that the talking and the barking comes from that piece of furniture that everyone sits in front of and looks at and that it isn't a dog or stranger invading the house.
