For instance if you only want the history, food, and discovery channel??

I so wish, but no. A senator had introduced legislation to that effect, kinda like an ala cart cable selection but it of course has gone nowhere. This is why I don't have cable. I won't pay for the 200 odd channels that I DON'T watch.

Not as of yet but they are trying to work on getting this kind of a concept in to action. It's called al a carte, and I hope it does happen because like so many others there are a number of channels I don't watch on a regular basis.

They group channels together. U have to pay for the whole package. To get the channels U want U have to pay for basic plus one.
