I just posted a question and got some great answers but maybe I should clarify a few things. I am constantly feeling nervous and anxious. But there is nothing for it. I have no reason for it. This is the first time I've ever experienced this. But for no reason I begin panicing and hyperventilating. I become frightened. This has never happened. It just started this weekend. I moved 2 months ago and I am fitting in great here. I have many friends at my high school. About a month ago my gf broke up with me. My sister (who was one of the only people I trusted) betrayed me. I take Strattera to help me focus in class (yes it is used for ADHD) but I went a month without it and just took one Friday. Since then I have been feeling this. I eat well, excercise regularly, I sleep well. So why am I feeling like this? What should I do? If you have any questions for me I'll answer because I'm not sure what information you might need.

I feel like I am on the brink of insanity. I could never hurt myself or any others but I'm scared I might end up doing so in a mental way. I could never kill another human being. What should I do?

It is more than likely the Strattera kicking into your system again! Call your doctor, tell him/her that you had quit taking it and then started and these symptoms came up. He/she will advise you on what to do.~

It sounds like your body is changing and maybe you don't need the Strattera anymore. ADHD meds are uppers. If you are truly ADHD still, they will have the opposite effect and calm you down and make you focus. If they aren't doing that, perhaps you don't need them. Try getting off them. If you are having problems focusing still, then go to the doc and he can give you another kind of drug. You probably should gradually get on something new; not jump into it.
You are having panic attacks, possibly brought on by the drug. Panic attacks do exactly the things you are stating. Make you feel like you are going crazy too. I had them for many years but finally got over them. You can have them at the most random times too. My first one was when I was making fudge. But i had outside stressors that were taking their toll. My bf broke up with me the week before; I had just changed colleges and quit my job and was looking for another; things like that. Then one night at my house; I started getting dizzy, heart pounding out of my chest; I thought I was having a heart attack; we called the ambulance and I went to the hospital.
Panic attacks are really weird like that. You think you are going crazy but you are not. Trust me I have been there. I got to the point where I was scared to leave the house for several months and it was a battle just to get in the car. I would drive literally down the driveway and have to turn back around in a panic and get back in my house. I couldn't even get to the grocery store right down the street.
You need to go see the doc and let him determine if your drugs are causing this, or a change of life and stressors. He can help you get through this.
Good luck.

You should never stop taking medications like Strattera. This is probably the root of your problem in addition to the other situations that you have described. Get back on your meds and see how that goes. If you arent soon feeling better, see your doctor.

You are having what is called "panic disorder" which fortunately is not chronic like it's cousin "anxiety disorder."
"Panic disorder" is short term and goes away by itself. One of the symptoms of Panic Disorder" is that it is a delayed reaction from what caused the temporary anxiety. In essence, it's a fairly healthy reaction. To panic is hardwired into us, but human beings have a safety protocol so panic does not put us in unnecessary danger.
If something causes anxiety your "super-ego" places the anxiety in a bank and save it up. Essentially you are saying to yourself, "I have to function now and in order to function I have to be able to think and make rational decisions.
So when the event that caused the anxiety is over, you say to yourself, Everything is over, it is SAFE to panic now.
Moving and fitting into a new social schema, breaking up with your girlfriend and being betrayed by a close family member are all very stressfull on the stress meter some psychologist whose name I now forget came up with to help pscychotherapist evaluate the stress being experienced by their patients.
The panic will go away by itself. You have to be nice to yourself and give yourself time for your subconcious to work it out of your system.
I'm willing to bet because you did function well during the time when these life-events were occuring that the panic will go away within a week tops. Just hang on and reming yourself that you did very well and what you are feeling is normal. In fact you should worry if you didn't feel it.

Well, that is a lot of stress to go thru, & your body reacts to the streess, whether you realize it or not,
& too the adhd med may be contributing to it.
Maybe a dr of psychology, can help & prescribe something for you, Chamomile tea is a natural relaxant, & valerian root(where valium comes from) but ya really need a dr's opinion on that.
i have panic attacks & it sounds lke that to me. that's why i recommend ya see a dr.
Good luck & i hope it gets better,

You should see a doctor and rule out any physical cause. He can also recommend somone to see or give medication in other circumstances.

You should speak with a doctor. I would get a second opinion from another doctor. Try to find one who specializes in mental illnesses in your area.

It's from that medication! Seriously, let it get back into your system. And you'll be ok. Give it like 30 days.
