It does seem that many companies are much more committed to their stockholders or $ than they are to the environment. And it does seem that the government would rather fine a few or throw a few dollars at the problem rather than do much to save anything. . .

It is most certainly an excuse for the government to make you feel guilt to take your money and go after business. This is a government run scam and doesn't have anything to do with big business. That is what the big governments types and leftists might like you to believe

Pollution control is a multi billion dollar business in the US. Business does this because it's the right thing to do.

As for the gvmt, yes, the gvmt never resolves problems. They make things worse and then demand more money. Look at their "war on poverty" to see how their "war on pollution" would go.

Gvmt involvement in "global warming" means you will lose more of your freedom and you'll have to pay more for the privilege of fewer freedoms.

Yes...and to have more restrictions on how they live.
I learned i school that the USA had mostly ice and the deserts were green with forests....who is to blame for them disappearing?
