she didnt have a date and only couples were allowed to have their photos professionally taken. I am not sure why this is but I am somewhat upset by it. My daughter specifically went to the Homecoming dance without a date because she wanted to enjoy the evening with friends and not (to use her words) be "stuck entertaining her date all night" (I had to laugh a little at that). I dont think it is right that single boys or girls cant get their photo taken at this event. What do you think?

totallylost ~ She never fails to crack me up. Everyone always tells me that she is MY daughter through and through! I always take it as a compliment because I think she is one of the smartest, funniest people I know! Thanks for your answers, everyone!

Totally agree with you Mom. Someone needs to have a talk with people, the school or the photographer. Your daughter should have been able to have a picture to remember the special event. That stinks!
Down here in MS, the singles can have their pictures take, or groups of friends can gang up. As long as they pay their deposits, the photographer doesn't care. I would give the school a call they may not even be aware of the this.
Hope you got some snapshots before the dance. Your daughter sounds like a very smart girl when it comes
"being stuck enteraining her date". I laughed too, because my son feels the same way. He has yet to take a date to anything but the prom. He goes stag to the parties, dances, or whatever is going on. Hey, maybe we should introduce them....lol
God bless us all!!!

I think you have a few options. First option is go anyway but use a fold up stroller instead, this way it doesn't take up a whole lot of room. If anyone asks you why you brought it you simply say she's sick and cannot walk on her own. No one should get upset about that including the bride who is the one being rude not you. The second option is simply don't go. You can call her to be polite and simply explain it to her one more time that you simply cannot because of her illness. (hopefully this would be enough to change her mind) Also you would let your fiance decide weather or not he still wants to go however since its his daughter too I think he should not attend just to make the point even clearer.

I am not defending the school or the photographer in anyway, but the reason this might of happened is this... Each photograph costs so much money... They would rather couples each get 1 picture instead of each person getting 1 picture. Cuts costs in half. I would personally call and complain to the school principle. I would ask that you get a FULL REFUND for the homecoming ticken , as I am sure that you had to pay something for her to attend this dance. I hope that you were able to get pictures of her on that night, as that is a very special moment. I'm so sorry she wasn't able to get a professional picture like everyone else.

That's terrible. I've known many girls to go to a school dance without a date, and either get their picture taken alone or with a group of friends. I would complain to the photography company.

That isn't right, I think You should complain to the school. Some teenagers aren't aloud to date until their 16 or 17 what if a 9th or 10th grader goes to the homecoming they would be what 14 and 15. My kids couldn't date at that age, theres your complaint, to have it changed.

I think that the photographer should be kicked in the pants for that stupidity. She deseves to have her picture taken. I would find out who took the photos and complain to the company. Call the school and find out. Take your daughter to a photographer and get her pictures done. Some people are so inconsiderate and rude. Dont let that happen.

I think its wrong. She should be allowed to get her picture taken. Parents are paying for the photograph not the school. I know when I went to high school,we were allowed to take individual or even group photos. I would talk to the principal and complain.

That is absurd that they wouldn't let her get her picture taken!! At the school I went to they didn't care if you had a date or not they wanted the extra money from pictures! I would get involved with the PTA and speak to them about this, so it won't happen again.

I didn't go to homecoming, but I did go to my prom and I took solo pictures. Looked great too since I didn't have some guy spoiling my pictures.
