I am looking for hymns of the Christian faith, but thanks to EVERYONE who replied with their hymns. The ones that weren't exactly what I was looking for are still appreciated. Thanks everbody!

I have a lot of favorites. But I've always liked "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God".

my favorite song is:
That where I am, There you may also be by Rich Mullins

before that my favorite band and song was Relient K
Who I am hates who I've been.

This song says so much about how I felt when I came back to the Lord. I still love to listen to this song.

Who I am hates who I've been.

I watched the proverbial sunrise
Coming up over the Pacific and
You might think I'm losing my mind,
But I will shy away from the specifics...

'cause I don't want you to know where I am
'cause then you'll see my heart
In the saddest state it's ever been.

This is no place to try and live my life.

Stop right there. That's exactly where I lost it.
See that line. Well I never should have crossed it.
Stop right there. Well I never should have said
That it's the very moment that
I wish that I could take back.

I'm sorry for the person I became.
I'm sorry that it took so long for me to change.
I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again
'cause who I am hates who I've been.
Who I am hates who I've been.

I talk to absolutely no one.
Couldn't keep to myself enough.
And the things bottled inside have finally begun
To create so much pressure that I'll soon blow up.

I heard the reverberating footsteps
Synching up to the beating of my heart,
And I was positive that unless I got myself together,
I would watch me fall apart.

And I can't let that happen again
'cause then you'll see my heart
In the saddest state it's ever been.

This is no place to try and live my life.

Who I am hates who I've been
And who I am will take the second chance you gave me.
Who I am hates who I've been
'cause who I've been only ever made me...

So sorry for the person I became.
So sorry that it took so long for me to change.
I'm ready to be sure I never become that way again
'cause who I am hates who I've been.
Who I am hates who I've been.

I have the video on myspace

If anyone wants to listen to it I put the address up

I have a few favorite hymns.
My dad's favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art" and one time we heard the hymn being sung in 4 or 5 different languages at the same time at a conference. I ended up loving it ever since.
I also love "Be Thou My Vision" and "Here I Am Lord"
Another favorite of mine isn't really a hymn but rather a chorus and it is called "Humble King"
(see links to the lyrics below!)
PEACE!

On Calvary ( http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/At_Calvary/ )

Onward Christian Soldiers ( http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Onward_Christian_Soldiers/ )

Doxology ( http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Doxology/ )

Although this one isn't a hymn, you should have felt the Holy Spirit flowing when 3500 people (some of who didn't even know the lyrics 'till that moment) all singing "and all the powers of evil, trembled at what they heard. All the children singing glory glory, halleluija he riens he riens"
HE REIGNS by THE NEWSBOYS

It’s the song of the redeemed
Rising from the African plain
It’s the song of the forgiven
Drowning out the Amazon rain
The song of Asian believers
Filled with God’s holy fire
It’s every tribe, every tongue, every nation
A love song born of a grateful choir

It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns

Let it rise about the four winds
Caught up in the heavenly sound
Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals
To the faithful gathered underground
Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation
Some were meant to persist
Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples
None rings truer than this

And all the powers of darkness
Tremble at what they’ve just heard
‘Cause all the powers of darkness
Can’t drown out a single word

When all God’s children sing out
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
All God’s people singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns

(Listen to it online at http://www.rhapsody.com/newsboys/hereignsworshipcollection )

I love all the songs by the newsboys ( we sing a lot of them at my church)

My favorite hymn is Seek Ye First. I always used to sing it in middle school choir...

Seek ye first the kingdom of God
And his righteousness
And all these things shall be added unto you
Allelu-Alleluia

When two or three are gathered in my name
There am I in their midst
And whatsoever ye shall ask I will do
Allelu-Alleluia

And then there are a couple more verses but while most choir members are singing the main verses, a descant (me!) would sing A-lei-lu-ia A-lei-luia repeatedly and it is way cute!

The Orphic Hymn to Hestia

Daughter of Kronos, venerable dame,
who dwellest amidst great fire’s eternal flame;
in sacred rites these ministers are thine,
mystics much blessed, holy and divine.

In thee the Gods have fixed their dwelling place,
strong, stable basis of the mortal race.
Eternal, much formed, ever florid queen,
laughing and blessed, and of lovely mien;

accept these rites, accord each just desire,
and gentle health and needful good inspire."
