because atheists can never really know that there's not a God. To claim to know that for sure would also require possessing all the knowledge in the universe.

Greetings Ms. Boop. In the answers and questions of a number of Atheists I have witnessed that they understand a lot of deeper meaning precepts and aspects of the bible. And I firmly believe that if they know these precepts and the bible that deeply then they also know that God exists. I will give them their due they are an intelligent lot. They have figured it out. This then in my mind begs the question, If they know that God exists (and they certainly do) then why are they doing their best to self destruct ? The only answer that makes any sense to me is that they think they are already condemned to spiritual death. It rips my heart out to think that is the case. I actually like some of the Atheists. My all time favorite is the ORIGINAL " Meatbot". Now there was a man with a little humility and a lot of CLASS. You are pretty cool sometimes too. P. S ruminate this. The beginning of wisdom is knowing God's word. The perfection of wisdom in my opinion is accepting God's word. Peace and wisdom to you.

Christians, (not ALL of them, mind you, just the fundies) are SO insulated from the REAL World that they can't conceive of someone NOT believing in God (their Version of God). As far as THEY'RE concerned, anyone that doesn't believe as THEY do has "turned from god" rather than found a way of living and achieving spirtuality on thier own, independently from the Bible and Jehovah.

every body believes in a God. some people believe in a spiritual God that has authority over them. other people believe they are their own God or figure of authority and make up their own rules. look at the constitution a document that states the rules and can be amennded as the people see fit. most people would recognise the need for a figure of authority. living under a system that allows people to chose other people from among the people to head this bodies enables them to feel part of their own authority. this is a generalised response but i hope you see my point. im not trying to say which is right or wrong i just think that everyone does have a "god" it is just a question of how you interpret it.

I don't.
Atheism, actually makes a lot of sense to a lot of people.
I can empathize with this, because I used to be one.
The chief culprit for the expansion of atheism, is the conduct of the religious hypocrites throughout the ages.
If the religious are so shocked, they really need to take an honest look at the conduct of the many who have done the damage to religion through the conduct.
The second reason for the expansion of atheism, is the mere observation, that so many universities employ staff that are atheist. By reason of the simple fact that most people have not made the truth their own (tested the base reasons for their beliefs) they are easily overawed and influenced by professors with the direct agenda of undermining religion and faith.

I'm a Christian and I don't believe you believe "in God". That is why you are called an Atheist ... a non-believer !!! For whatever, reason you do not is irrelevant here !!!

P.S. well stated Katrina !!!

Because some can't fathom the idea that there are those who don't believe something so fundamental to their being. I always get a kick out of "christians" who threaten Atheists with hell for not believing or even think they are "God haters." I am a Catholic who finds it hard to imagine that people don't believe in God, but I accept it and don't really have a need to convince them that there is one.

example:
25 anti-christians and atheists follow a christian around bashing,mocking and reporting?Why?
I never Go to an atheists site (must be some somewhere in cyberspace) and do such things in the anti-christian,agnostic,and athiest area (what do they find to discuss at such a sight?).Seems in there attacks is some interest to be in the "Know" about christianity.Again why attack and report in the R&S section if you are 100% tolerant and 100% uninterested?

Because many Christians can't fathom the idea of somebody actually being so audacious as to disagree with their specific version of the creation/deity myth.

Because they cannot imagine what it would be like to really not believe in God. Even pretending that they disbelieve is probably scary enough for them so they wonder how Atheists can take it one step further and REALLY not believe.
