Because, apart from religion, which is nothing more than a successful cult, Atheism is the spiritual way to live. Only Atheists can be spiritual because they are the only people that can actually practice their abstract concepts while they are alive.
Their ideas are concepts based on reality, therefore their minds work only on solving real problems of living. They do not have their minds cluttered by thoughts of the Afterlife, or the Supernatural, or magical events. Their minds are set on the task of living fully, both body and soul as a true, indivisible unit. They do not separate the body from their soul; they know that the soul without the body is an imaginary ghost and that the body without the soul is just a corpse. They do not create a fake "spiritual" world; they live the spirit, the soul of their concepts to the fullest. If you want to meet truly spiritual people, meet Atheists! They are no hypocrites. They are completely what they claim to be: independently thinking people.
The world will be a peaceful, moral place when reason will be held the sole guide of all our actions.

Well where else would not believing religion or god fit? If you did this Answers would split in two. One category for each area in which people were positive and another negative side.

What would be the point of having a section for people that only have one thing in common?
Seems rather pointless.
The questions would be something like this:
"Fellow atheists, do you agree that we are all superior because we don't believe in god?"
The answers would all be the same:
"Yes, I agree!"

joe: Little it be known to you, Atheists do have a section. It is called the Religion & spirituality Section (YES - the one you are in) ! Atheism is a "religion" that is why it is in here. Agree or not, the definition of a Atheist does fit. One thing for sure, like Christians ... Atheists don't stand a chance to be in the section for the intellectually astute - that's for sure, no matter how much we "choke" on our ego !

Atheism is in itself a belief system on it's own. So religion is a good section for it.

becuase the Y!A people intentionally create a sort of tense environment in which to answer the eternal 'jesus' question. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes the people are rude, but in the end, we all get some laughs...

What would they be discussing there?
Here they can at least feel good about themselves being brighter than the theists even though they give the same monotonous answers ad nauseum - there is no god, god does not exist, these people are gullible, there's no logic blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah............

riiiiighht, joe blow- then you'd have to have a 'Don't Like Politics" Section, a "Don't Believe in Law Enforcement" Section, a "Don't Believe in the Military" Section, a "Don't Believe in Polls & Surveys" Section, a "Don't Believe in Society & Culture" Section, etc...pretty lame huh?
