Well.. Whenever I start up my PC, ANY full screen application such as when the 'Dell' sign is shown or the 'Windows XP' sign is snows, it does not fill up the whole screen of my PC, it it does however show the signs, but with about 4 inch gaps from the top, bottom, left and right with black lines.

I wanted to play one of my games last night however, when it finished loading (fullscreen game) it appeared the same as the 'Dell' and 'Windows XP'; simply a tiny box in the middle with black lines surrounding.

Im not too sure how to explain what I mean but I hope most people can understand.

Instead of anything that is SUPPOSED to be full screen, it is half the size in the middle of the screen. Is there anything I can do within my PC to make everything thet is supposed to be fullscreen, fullscreen again. Please give a simple, step-by-step guide. OR add me on MSN nirvana-a7x@hotmail.com if you really do want to help me. I am leaving for school soon and wont be on for about 8 hours. TY

Ok, open up your control panel, open appearance and themes,
change screen resolution. go to settings, advanced, general info, make sure dpi is set to normal, make sure you are on the first monitor, as some computers have the option of using more than one monitor. Now open control panel, performance and maintenance, system, device manger, display, right click, select properties, driver, update drivers. Hope this helps.

Some laptops, particularly older ones, only support using the whole screen with certain screen resolutions. Try increasing your screen resolution....in other words, if you've set it for 800 x 600, increase it to 1024 x 768 or higher.

For whatever reason, some of the (primarily older) laptops support smaller resolutions by reducing the size its shown on the screen (really stupid). Increasing the resolution, or letting windows make it "optimal" may solve your problem. Then, if you're like me, get stronger glasses.

There are buttons on your monitor to adjust the screen. You just have to play with the horizontal and the vertical buttons until you get the the black border off of the screen and you get a full screen picture on the monitor. I am hope it is just as simple as that. I had the same problem and my daughter is the one that suggested it to me and it worked. So I would try that first. Good Luck!

you can try changing the display settings in the game.
most games will allow you to change the screen resolution. set the screen resolution to 1280 X 1024 X 32 (or what ever is the highest). this should fill up the gap.

sorry i cant give you step-by-step instructions, but all games are different and there setting are all not the same.

Can you drag the edges of the window outward? Have you tried adjusting the monitor? Does anything at all fill up the screen? Did you recently change your graphics card? What sort of monitor, graphics card, and Dell PC do you have?

Check the settings if your monitor has buttons for adjusting on it and just make the height and width bigger. If that doesn't work how old is your monitor because it might be time for a new one if its getting to old. Good Luck

Yes its more of the vedio card problem, reinstall your video card driver and check also your monitor setting by resetting this. Playing games is fun, its not more fun when a game corrupted your computer.

Happy Gaming.
