I don't see why people are so upset about this...he isn't part of the group that flew those planes...

especially considering that one of the outspoken critics of Ahmadinejad's visit, Giuliani, gave a Saudi prince a personal tour of Ground Zero in October 2001, when almost all the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and Saudis continue to back terrorism and hatred.... I see no reason why Ahmadinejad couldn't have this moment

for those people who link him to Al Qaeda... they are different Muslim sects. They disagree entirely. And Ahmadinejad only became president a few years ago. The real leader of Iran since 1989 has been Ayatollah Khomenei

Ahmadinejad was NOT at the American Embassy when hostages were taken, he has explained where he was and the US Government has reported that his alibi matches up. A lot of Iranians look alike, especially when it's 30 years later and you were being tortured most of the time. Ahmadinejad was NOT there.

Iranian weapons have turned up in Iraq (and Afghanistan too, I think) and are killing US soldiers. The Iranian government denies involvement, despite Iranian "officials" getting arrested for suspiscious activity in Iraq. That's bad enough. Then there is all the anti-American rhetoric and other terrible things Ahmadinajad says and does. Not exactly someone who would be sympathetic to Americans, since he hates us so much. Then again, he may just want to see Osama's handiwork, since he managed to hurt us so bad. He can't openly declare war on us like Osama because he is the head of a state, and that would be an act of war by Iran on America, just like what happened with Afghanistan.

You're right he isn't part of the group that flew the planes, if he was he would've died right along with them. Who is he wanting to lay the wreath for though? Not for those Americans or employees that died in those towers. It's for those "brave" islamic terrorists that hijacked the planes and ended the lives of many infadels of the "great satan"? Why should he even be allowed to enter my country, as his is a sworn enemy of the US? This is like asking why the Jews didn't allow Hitler to break bread with them.

I agree with you 100% for two reasons:

1) Since when does the United States of America mandate who can mourn whom and how. Frankly NOT letting him mourn the 9/11 victims (or even pretend to mourn the 9/11 victims) seems like something… well… Iran would do.

2) If he is such a bad person (and I believe he’s a despicable person) let lay a wreath, and let him feel the full force of what American freedom looks like through the protests and backlash he’d receive.

If you had an open wound, would you want anyone pouring salt or acid into it? Does that answer your question? His views on Americans are well known. He is rumored to have taken part in holding American captives, remember? Laying a wreath at Ground Zero is an honor reserved for Americans and/or our allies. At the present time, he cannot be considered either. Good Luck & Blessings

So what, like coragryph stated it's a stunt.

Why waste time debating a dead man walking. He is a short timer. He makes big talk talk talk talk.

Speaks loudly because he has no stick. If he had a stick his mouth would be shut tight. A freaking Navy with catamarans!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He does not run Iran. The Mullahs do and he must keep them happy or they will displace him as fast as they installed him.

Because the Iranian government would never allow an American president to place a wreath at the US embassy in Tehran, would they? Think reciprocity.

It would be totally disrespectful to the family and friends of those who lost their lives there. He may not be a part of the exact group that flew those planes but the country is where our troops are valiantly giving their lives on a daily basis. Also, a lot of Americans are suspicious of his intentions, I don't agree with them, but they just are. I guess you have to look at it from the family/friends of people who lost their lives in 9/11 or in Iraq points of view. It's a tough issue. But respect where respect is due.

Ahmadinajad is a supporter of terrorism. Iran is an enemy of the US and is a state sponsor of terrorism.

he is one of our enemies. he probably would use this as some kind of PR stunt when he goes back to Iran. He has said things that indicate he would like to destroy the USA and Israel. So it would be a total joke for him to lay a wreath there. I believe it is referred to as crocodile tears.

Ask guys in the service what they think????
