Many scholars believe that Jesus really wanted Mary to carry on the heart of the church rather than the disciples.

Of course this caused alot of turmoil.

When you consider the first "canon" was not until the 3rd century, you can see in many ways how the scriptures were redacted to yes, limit the influence of the female.

However, I think you also must take into consideration the "place" women were given at that time in history. They were much like property in that the father's in a sense paid men to take their daughters off their hands, by giving the groom cattle and such.

However, Jesus made no differenticial in sexes, races, or even creeds. In fact He was highly opposed to it.

Yes a man-made error. For without women, there is no humanity. No births.
So it is the male domination that is working to subside right now, that placed a control mechanism on the views of women in life.
(yea there was a time women did that to men, so what goes around comes around!) If we can just find a beautiful harmony and truth to live within!

Pretty much all religions place a woman's role in life, behind the male provider's; quiet and docile--either that or they're put up as submissive sacrifices, understandably against their will. I can't think of a single God-fearing religion where women are given equal autonomy of life.

Considering that every society, religious or not, has limited the rights of some people, it's not surprising. And, of course, this kind of question has absolutely no bearing on the question of whether the religion is TRUE or not. That's the question you should be asking yourself.

Have you ever noticed the hunger for power that women have? This characteristic was apparently in Eve and the serpent used it to his advantage. Adam was likely created 30 years before Eve, yet she was the one targeted by the Devil to tempt. He knowing Eve had power over Adam because of his excessive love for her. The serpent tempted Eve by offering her more power to be like God knowing what is evil.
Without consulting Adam her senior, husband, protector and teacher, Eve selfishly ignored the ban on a certain fruit, one which she had just recited. The fruit was pleasant to her eyes and so she did eat. Trusting more in the word of the serpent than God's.
Next we find Eve in the court of God on trial for her life. Rather than an imminent execution of the death sentence, God shows mercy, but still punishes her with a curse that is passed on to all womankind through her children.

[16] To the woman He said: "I shall greatly increase the pain of your pregnancy; in birth pangs you will bring forth children, and your longing will be for your husband, and he will dominate you." ~ Genesis 3:16

God put limits on females to prevent them from having it all. He doesn't want men being just drones in service to women. He wants family units. Don't underestimate the power of women.
She is the crowning glory of the physical creation.

If you study the ancient cultures and the role that women played in them, you will find that Christianity brought women up to their righful place in society. And since the late second to the early third century, as man's wisdom was overcoming the teachings of our Lord and the Apostles, women were slowly brought down to a level in which God had never intended.

Nope.. not the RIGHTS... but the ROLES... there's a difference.

In Christianity, according to Galatians 3, in Christ, there is neither male nor female, but all are ONE in Jesus.

As for non-Christian religions, I don't have those responses.

Have a blessed day.
