Julie,

The Catholic Church was founded by Christ Himself and is not a cult but the original Christian Church. Protestants are just thow who are in protest to Christ's Church. Catholics worship God alone and not St. Mary or anyone else. If you read the Bible you will see that the Bible, being the book of the Church, describes the Catholic Church in faith and practice. Go to RCIA classes and learn for yourself.

In Christ
Fr. Joseph

Kait, you say that we are saved by faith alone but the Bible does not teach salvation by faith alone. What you did describe of Catholic salvation is the salvation by God's grace where Catholics are "born again" by their Baptism and are obedient to the Spirit of God that dwells within them encouraging them in doing God's will.

Otherwise what you said is bearing false witness against Christ's Church out of bigotry and hatred for what Christ created and those who are faithful to Him.

The Roman Catholic Church is certainly not a cult - but there are those who would insist otherwise because of a hatred for Catholicism.

No, Roman Catholics do not worship Mary, but rather God. The focus of Roman Catholic worship is the Mass and the focus of the Mass is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

There are all kinds of claims made about Catholicism or Roman Catholicism made by anti-Catholics who have an agenda. Such claims, when properly checked, are usually found to be false.

You married someone of a different religious belief and didn't work all that out BEFORE you got married?? Did u just meet him and have a quickie wedding at a las vegas drive thru chapel or something? How can this topic not have come up and been explored concerning something so integral to the person you're supposed to love and be with the rest of your life?

Seems like you and hubby need to sit down and discuss these things. Immediately.

Catholics venerate Mary and hold her in high regard, but do not worship her. Mary did not die for the sins of mankind. As for the word "cult", it's a loaded term. Until fairly recent times historically, the word "cult" was used to describe any group of believers. All religions, in that sense, are cults. As for the Roman Catholic Church being a cult in the modern sense of the word (a fanatical religious group capable of doing intense harm to its own members and their families, while being unwilling to allow people to leave the group), no, it's not. Did you honestly not research your husband's beliefs prior to marrying him?

<> First, Catholics do no longer worship Mary. 2nd, the accusation that Catholics worship Mary, is erroneous. subsequently, the anti-catholic bigots are incorrect. marvel, marvel, actual? <> isn't it thrilling how they condemn Catholics for some thing they do no longer even do? <> Jesus DOES exist. <> It does certainly make Mary an substantial individual in Salvation background. God gets to 'layout' his very own earthly mom. would not it stand to reason that he is going to make her as 'perfect' has she would be? of course it does.

No. Catholics think Mary is just a really, really nice Jewish girl.

Send for my Catholic Resource CD, which will explain everything for you with "point and click" graphic simplicity.

It's free.

Well, I'm a catholic and I'm starting to think all types of religion are some sort of cult. I was baptized catholic, but I sure don't practice it because I don't believe in any of their rituals. Especially since the "priest" stuff has erupted. After all, we can't really be expected to be "good" catholics. I don't practice any religion now, but enjoy being spiritual instead. Kinda like politics - not democrat or republican - middle of the road.

Well, in a sense, yes. I am a former Catholic. That does not mean that there are no Catholics that will be saved though. They say that they do not worship Mary, that they only pray for intercession. The problem with that is that we are to pray to God and need no intercession except for the intercession of Jesus himself, who is God the son, the word made flesh.

Having said that, there are Catholic's who do love the Lord Jesus with all their heart, some have been mislead.

If you want to discuss further beliefs or have any questions, email me.

Fyre above me who appears to be Catholic seems to have the right idea.

No, we're not a "cult."

No, we don't "worship" Mary. We respect her, sure, she played a very important role in history and set an example for the rest of us to follow, but she was only a human and is not God.
