instead of just bringing their silverware from home. Matter of fact, why don't they just eat at home?

Some people believe that the eating utensils that are re-washed over and over in restaurants aren't clean and that plastic ones come in a bag (presumably fresh and untouched) will be clean. Also some people can't stand the taste or feel of metal in their mouths.

Why would someone bring their own silverware to a restaurant? If you are going to a restaurant, you expect to use theirs. Do you mean that people are asking for plasticware when there is regular silerware on the table already? That would have to do with a preference to plastic versus metal or cleanliness issue.

I don't go to a restaurant and ask for plastic ware to eat my meal unless I am taking it to go.
And once I get home with it, I do usually use my own silverware to eat it.

Eating out has become a part of a habbit. Like me, I go the restaurant because I like the food they serve and I'm lazy to cook. Some people make it as a family gathering, Some also want a change of environment and some go there because the female servere is beautiful, and etc. etc.

Easier then cooking and doing dishes (with all the clean-up).
Families don't get together and spend time together around a table.
