Well, beef jerky is extremely high in sodium and protein and low in fat, and diet soda also tends to be high in sodium and carries no nutritional value so you would probably lose weight but damage your body at the same time which would offset the weight loss.
Excess sodium intake is linked to: hypertension/high blood pressure and heart disease, fluid retention (oedema) and kidney stones.
There are plenty of sensible diets out there that are based on low fat, low calorie healthy foods that you can live on the rest of your life without getting bored, so I don't see how beef jerky and diet soda plan would hold any appeal for you?
Also, whatever weight you did lose on this "diet" you would likely gain back when you stopped "dieting" since you are not making better your food choices, you are cutting out everything but two items and starving your body.
Also, I imagine that constipation would be a bit problem if you were to eat dried food and drink only soda.

Back in the early 1980s the fad diet was the protein sparing fast. The gist of it was you consumed 6 ozs. of an evil tasting liquid each day and nothing else. The liquid was sort of cherry flavored, but still smelled and tasted like drinking mucilage glue. Yuk!!
People died from this diet. They weren't getting enough to eat and their bodies started consuming themselves. It was affecting their hearts and other organs first.
Besides getting jaws of iron from chewing all the beef jerky, you could risk doing something like a protein sparing fast. It's not worth it!
Eat. Eat balanced meals. If you want to lose weight, reduce the amount you are eating and get more exercise. Dropping one soda or candy bar a day (and NOT eating something just as calorie laden in it's place) will cause you to lose 10 lbs. in a year.

Yes to both - you will get sick, and lose weight. But as soon as you go back to your regular diet, you'll gain all the weight. Try a sensible diet - lots of fruits and veggies, less fat. Beef jerky is high in calories, fat, and sodium. Totally unhealthy!

You will probably lose weight and you will probably not feel very well. I wouldn't suggest it. Every human needs carbohydrate, protein, & fat in their diet. Beef jerky only has protein (very little fat). Fat is important in brain function and for cells. Carbohydrate is very important for energy. So you will probably find that you will be very tired, having no energy and may become confused and malnourished. Eliminating grains, veggies, and fruits from your diet is not a good idea, you need the nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fiber) for a healthy functioning body. Beef jerky has minimal nutritional value other than protein for the body. Disease and sickness forms in the body due to lacking crucial nutrients you find in a varied and healthy diet. I wouldn't suggest it.

You would invite a host of health problems upon yourself...
For one thing, a diet consisting of only red meat is going to drive your cholesterol up. What's more you will depriving yourself of nutrients that you only get from fruits and vegetables. You would also be putting your digestive tract through hell.
Protein sickness.
constipation
Diet soda isn't any good, either. It's full of something bad for you.
Bicarbonate of soda, the stuff that makes it fizzy.
If you're trying to lose weight, Start by getting into the habit of drinking plenty of water, everyday. Eight glasses of water a day is a very healthy habit. The other thing you need to do is stay away from fried foods as a general rule. You can have a little bit of them. Losing weight shouldn't be your priority, though. Eating healthy and respecting your body is. If you concentrate on being healthy and making healthy choices, you will become healthy.
Good luck

You'd most likely get sick. Since there's no fiber in that diet, you'll probably end up crapping your guts out. Also, if you only drank diet soda, you'd need 6 cups a day to get enough liquid. That's a ton of caffeine.
Another thing, since you won't be getting carbs or a lot of vitamins, you'll probably feel really tired when you start getting immune to the effects of caffiene. Also, your jaws will be really tired from chewing jerky.

High sodium and not a lot of nutrition. You will get very cranky and depressed from the lack of B vitamins, and neither the diet soda nor the jerky are good for you. You'll probably get very sick, or get sick of it before you see any results.
