a blood cancer? look up the name AIDS, auto immune deficiency syndrome. AIDS is a syndrome, a condition, the body enters when the immune system fails. Heard of AIDS related pneumonia? means the person really died of pneumonia but the body had no ability to fend off the infections. So there was no calvary coming to the rescue.

And for reference AIDS is not the name for the virus.
HIV is the name of the virus. There is a difference.

No. It is an Auto-Immune disease. This is where something triggers the body natural defense system to attack itself; sort of a biological "friendly-fire" incident as it were.
