I actually took Zoloft for a year and a half and I took myself off of it. If your going through depression and thats that the doctor prescribes to you, you will probably start out at 25 mg. And if it doesn't help some move the mg up. When taking Zoloft, it takes a few weeks for it to actually start helping. I know mine didn't help me for a long time and then I started relying on it.. Thats why I took myself off. It make my day a tad bit better. But, not too much. Sorry I can't be much help.

Hi , I 've been taking Zoloft for over 1 year and with all honnesty i only heard bad things about it , it didn't do much for me . I'm going to see another doctor this week . Zoloft gives you a rollercoaster of emotions ... Gives you highs as much as lows . My advice would be to eat well , exercice and try zoloft but if you don't feel any better don't let it linger... Good luck

Zoloft and therapy have given me my life back.
Therapy/counseling was a chance for me to understand why I was dealing with the problems that interfered with my life, and it was a source of coaching to get me off the bench and back into the game of life.
Zoloft as a medication has helped to replace what my body was not making - the chemicals required for me to think, to reason, to figure things out, to remember, and to function physically and socially as a member of society. I had lost nearly all of those functions until a Dr. prescribed Zoloft. The road back has been long and oh, so gradual. But it has continued to be ever an uphill road as I push for more of what I'd lost.
This summer I recovered my spontanious laughter. One day a family member walked into the house and remarked "You're humming!" Little steps toward getting my life back!
I realize I have given you the "pro's" here
The only "con" is the side effect that today I take naps.

I take 50mg of Zoloft every morning to treat depression and mild anxiety. It works great for me, but everyone reacts differently to antidepressants. I had a few side effects that lasted for about 5 days, but they went away. I experienced mild headaches, frequent yawning, and some fatigue. But don't stop taking the medication unless your doctor says to because it takes about 2 weeks to start working. Side effects usually go away if you can just wait it out. Also, Zoloft is safe for women who are thinking about becoming or who are pregant or nursing.
