If a rock hits you in the front of the head, you fall backwards, period unless you know some physics other than Newtons first law of motion. Did god use special anti-physics magic to push Goliath forward?
48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.

Ned-I am a doctor no, why would that even be relevant? But I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.

Um... it did not stun him, a rock with the force to puncture your brain kills you instantly, the momentum will carry you backwards. Do none of you understand physics?

Ned that should have read not a doctor. If a stone punctures your forhead there is an extremely high probability that it will kill you. It does not say one way or another wether or not it killed him.

It may have been based on some historical incident, but it should be read metaphorically. It symbolizes the authentic Self killing the giant 'learned' ego identity - all the programmed beliefs that limit your ability to KNOW anything and experience 'full aliveness.'

You have never watched boxing, or a MMA fight, if you think that a man who has been stunned or rendered unconscious by a blow to the face always falls backward, and never forward. Do you really think that we are going to believe that you are a doctor after you said something like this?
If you read the story, David did NOT KILL Goliath with the STONE.
Nice try, but I think that a doctor would have better reading comprehension than you do.

1 Samuel 17:51
David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine's sword and drew it from the scabbard. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.

The speed of the stone along with the spot in which David hit Goliath caused him to fall. If you get stunned, and stagger, you will fall forward or backward. Ever seen a bar fight? David had faith in God to be successful, though he did not test God, reason that he took more than one stone. The direction in which Goliath fell is hardly an argument. Yes, you can die from a hit in just the right spot between the eye area. It isn't much different than if you were to shove the nose upward into the same area causing death.

Goliath was a Philistine, perhaps you are misremembering that word as Palestine. As for Israel, that was the name given to Jacob after he wrestled with an angel. (Genesis 32:28) His descendants were therefore called the Sons of Israel, and then just Israel for short. Once they settled in the promised land it came to be called the Kingdom of Israel. This was all thousands of years before the Balfour Declaration. If you look at the story in 1 Samuel 17, it doesn't technically say that 'David was from Israel' anyway, because that's so obvious it doesn't even need saying. It says that he's from Bethlehem of Judah (which is one of the tribes of Israel, Judah being one of Jacob's(Isreal's) 12 sons).

It was Rock not a high powered rifle. It wasn't Dallas or the Grassy Noel. A rock will kill from a sling but its not a bullet.
The laws of Psychics do not apply to God. No human law does.
The military stories in the old testament were pretty dead on historically
Goliath was probably suffering from gian ism so David killed a handicapped arthritic man who probably was in allot of pain every day.
The stories are acurate not that acurate people tend to exagerate and only an idiot would take them to be perfectly correct
And only and idiot would ignore the spiritual deeper meaning of a very spiritual book. That applies to all Religions. 100,000 years of human experiance. Only a moron would ignore them.

Well that's pretty lame. Goliath was moving towards David. And he was massive compared to the stone. So physics would suggest that though he suffered the head injury, the momentum of the stone wasn't enough to combat his forward momentum.
Furthermore seeing as David was much shorter, the Goliath would have been leaning forward, again contributing to his fall forward.

The Philistine moved closer to attack him...so Goliath was moving with a forward momentum...the rock struck him, and he fell forward, which was the way he was moving...then of course, add the weight of the armor and it makes sense that Goliath fell forward.

If the rock lodged into his brain as is indicated, then the brain damage may have made him paralyzed for a second or two, and he could have fallen any direction.
If he was wielding a heavy shield or arms as he probaby did going into a battle, the weight of that may also have pulled him forward.
The little stone that David used in his sling would probably not have had enough weight to force a giant to fall backward.

Um...if a stone hits you in the front of your head, depending on the mass of the stone and the speed at which it was traveling, you won't necessarily fall backward. the point is, when the stone hits you, it knocks you unconscious, and you could either fall to the ground backward, or, you may just slump to the ground face down. once you're unconscious, you can fall in any manner.

Are you a doctor now?
I don't think that it was the force of the rock that made him fall over.
====edit===
If you read the story, you would notice that the rock did not KILL him. David killed him with a sword.
The rock merely rendered him unconscious.
A man with a concussion falls in what direction? Quick -- you are a doctor. Can you grantee that a man who is hit in the head will ALWAYS fall backwards?
You don't know either medicine or physics. You are a troll.

first instinct is that your head would snap back and then you would snap your head forward to grab your forehead. All this would result in a forward motion. Goliath obviously was knocked out for David then took Goliaths sword and killed him and then cut off his head.
