My dad had about 30 years of good experiences in the Navy and Army, then went to Iraq, which could probably count as a bad experience. He's partially deaf in one ear because of the radio, has PTSD, and has had surgery to remove bone spurs from carrying around all his equipment all day. He doesn't regret joining or having served though. Oh, and a cousin of mine died. That's a pretty bad experience, wouldn't you say? An ex of mine regretted joining because she was an Asian female, more or less. Yeah, all the policy states racism and sexism is illegal and extremely punishable, but that doesn't always carry over into reality. She doesn't plan to re-enlist when her time is up (another two years); it's better for her here in CA than it was in Georgia, but she feels like an outsider, has been mocked and insulted, people have questioned whether or not she really deserves to be there (she was born in China but is a legal US citizen who moved here when she was 2) and things like that. Keep in mind, this is from people she serves with. My old roommate was in the Marines for eight years and felt like he just sort of stagnated after a certain point, but didn't really speak negatively of the experience. Most of my friends and relatives are uniformly proud of their experience in the military and don't regret having served or think of it as a "bad" experience.

I was lucky during the 60's and was stationed in West Germany.
Our cooks decided that we weren't drinking enough milk so they didn't change the containers when it went sour. In order to get fresh milk we had to take a glass of the curdled milk with us until it all ran out a few days later.
But the worse thing that happene to me wasn't directly involving the military. There was a head-on crash outside of the base's gate involving 6 high school students and 5 or 6 drunken soldiers who were going at a high speed. Three of us were walking by at the time. My buddies and I pulled out bodies - some dead, some soon to be - to get them away from the burning cars. I think 7 people died at the scene.
