If i put a window fan in my window with it sucking air out of the room and smoke near it will it pull all of the smoky air out? Also, if its sucking out the air from my room, do i need to open an opposite window? And if i do need to open another window, will the same smoky air come back in?

Open a window on a different outside wall of the building, to create a cross-current.

For example, let say your apartment is on the corner of Main Street and South Street. You have the fan pointing Out, exhausting the air from your apartment onto South Street.

If you open a window facing onto Main Street, you will get a nice cross current, with air being drawing INTO your apartment from the Main Street side and air being exhausted OUT onto the South Street side.

The smoke will the exhausted OUT of your apartment and fresh air will be drawn INTO your apartment.

It would be safer to go outside and do it. Less chance of getting caught, unless you are in jail............
