In the Bible the earth is flat, held up by pillars (like a giant oceanic oil-rig) and the sun revolves around the earth. The sky is a mirrored dome with the sun, moon and stars affixed to the underside. The moon creates it’s own light. Above the dome, God sits on a throne in heaven. God, who’s as strong as a unicorn, rides cherubs and came to earth to show his “back parts” to one man and wrestle with another. The Bible tells of unicorns, cockatrices, and satyrs. Snakes, trees and donkeys talk.
Does this sound like the earth you live on?
Why would God make Noah save cockroaches, parasitic wasps, mosquitoes and komodo dragons while watching innocent human babies drown?
Read Eccl. 3:18-20: That Men “might see that they themselves are beasts. …Yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.”
See if you can tell which picture is of Jesus and which is another God-man. There are 3 sections.

Read Three Hundred and Forty-Six Striking Analogies Between Christ and Chrishna:

Then you will start to realize the Bible was the sci-fi thriller of the 4th century. Scary, but still fiction.

I admire your bravery for continuing on the path of soul searching. I hope the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth.
You don't have to be afraid of anything. The Bible says "perfect love casts out all fears." And guess what? The Bible itself tells you just how perfectly God loves you - so...you don't have to be scared.
I personally believe the Bible is true. But this is something you must decide for yourself. You can only decide that for sure if you are reading it. A good translation is "The Message:Remix" which is in modern English but very true to the original meaning and context.
Be at peace.

I do not believe that the bible was written by God himself. Perhaps the men who wrote those books were inspired by God (the parts about loving one another, etc) However the rest of the bible was written by men who wanted to have control over other people. People use the bible as a tool for enlightenment and maybe even salvation. However in today's world most people use it as a weapon to condemn others. Most of the books and teachings that were kept out of the bible are worth reading.

With the Bible its an all or nothing thing, or else the gospel becomes a bedtime story to teach mankind to be good.
You gotta take it literaly unless it tells you otherwise.
I am an ordained minister and christian webmaster. I wrote an article on why we should trust the Bible for logical reasons when we are seeking info about God:

To read the Bible as the 'inspired' word of god, means there is a tremendous amount of material written by enlightened people who try to explain their insights related to the nature of man's relationship to god/reality (at a time when they had no psychological language or physics to help them explain their observations about being/reality.)
They are speaking in psychological metaphors about how one must overcome (transcend) one's learned (think programmed) ego identity in order to return to authentic being. It's called unity with god/reality or unity consciousness. Every religion has sacred texts trying to explain how to do the same thing. Jesus tried to embody this ego death/restoration of authentic being to make certain it was communicated in a detailed way through his life story. We STILL screwed it up. Hell (or heaven) is our experience of the here and now - not after death. It is what everyone NEEDS to be saved from. God/reality mirrors the contents of consciousness - so you have to change your mind to change your experience. We literally 'live by faith" - experience what we believe.
But, you are right - we all are here for a purpose. It's our job to remember it and get on with it.

I believe that we have alot more to lose by not even trying to believe than by going on hope and faith. I rather be ridiculed and called naive her eon Earth than suffering in eternity. Anyway, I have lived of my own will and it never got me anywhere. All I got from living in the world was depression, condemnation and misery. In the spirit I live in peace of mind, love and happiness. Sure it might not be perfect everyday, but I thank God that his mercy is new every morning.

The purpose of human life to contain God as life in the human spirit(Job 32:8) But [there is] a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. That is why we have a spirit and God is spirit(John 4:24).
So you just have to receive the Lord as your Savior and there you go.

Here are my thoughts. l expect a few thumbs down.
I do not believe in hell/ devil, word of the bible, Adam & Eve being the first humans, or 'wrath of God'.
I believe in reincarnation, spirits, and a forgiving, caring God. I believe in a heaven and that one day i will enter it. Also, I believe that it makes no difference. It is very possible that I am wrong. An Athiest does good because he knows it is the right thing to do. A Christian (as you might consider myself) does good because I believe a greater being wants me to. Does it really matter? As long as for whatever reason it makes us better people?

Jesus said that He Is the Way, Truth & Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.
Jesus heals people all the time. There are people who were tested positive with HIV & were touched by Gods healing touch & then tested negative. One person said this as a testimony at my Church about 4 years ago.
I know in my heart & mind that the God of the Holy Bible is God. That the Holy Bible is true. Because when a person gets born again, they are born of His Spirit, cleansed by His blood, joint heirs with King Jesus & part of the family of God. With this Spiritual birth, God seals His children as His own. We are anointed with the Spirit of Truth who leads us into all truth & isn't a liar. !Jn2:27. As I am a born again Christian. The Holy Spirit leads me in Gods Word & confirms it in my spiritman.
Now there are those who add books (Like Mormons) that the Holy Spirit doesn't confirm as true to me. God had me toss a Mormon book out. But the Holy Spirit is who guides us in His Holy Bible & confirms it true.
Faith comes by hearing & hearing a word about Christ / God. And so, you need to hear the Word of God preached. A Church that preaches the Bible & the Gospel of Christ.
Salvation isn't received by believing the bible. But confessing Jesus Christ your Lord & Savior & believing in your heart He raised from the dead does. Believing in Jesus Christ, the Son of the LIving God. Believing that Jesus shed His blood on the cross of Calvery for remission of your sins. And believing that He raised from the dead so you can be raised up like Him.
You just need to believe in the Jesus of the Bible Gospel.
Now there are good Christian bible foundation web sites. My Church is http://www.riveroflifefellowship.org . There is http://www.billygraham.com & http://www.joelosteen.com & http://us.god.tv/
Also the bible has been tried & tested & found true. The ones who say it isn't true are the ones that deny Jesus Christ after He is presented. So, It is up to you to choose. To believe God of the Holy Bible or to believe the antichrist additional books.
Doma has a good web site.
Also, if you call the Billy Graham site, ask them about a 'Decision' Magazine out a while back when the DiVinci Code was out that was excelent on the 'Authority of the Bible'. 'Why we can trust the Bible'. Different articles in the magazine. Because the DiVinci Code caused Christians to search it out & found we can truly trust the Bible.
Another good web site of scriptures of how your Heavenly Father loves you http://www.fathersloveletter.com .
A person who died & went to heaven & came back again http://www.90minutesinheaven.com .
weifmaster also has a good web site.
