Or is this some internet myth? I've seen web-sites that say that when sunscreens are exposed to UV light, they break down into poweful free-radicals that can damage the skin cells to the point of causing cancer and pre-mature aging--the very things I'm trying to prevent by applying SPF45 three times a day.

Am sure the sunscreen manufacturers did their research before the products were launched, besides if it were true, we would have heard of the cases.
Stick to your sunscreen and you'll be glad you did.

Sunscreen can NOT damage your skin. They only made it to save you from getting skin cancer, wrinkles, and burns. Although it is good for you, inless you live in Florida or Hawaii or some hot sunny-all-year-round place, it's not neccesarily a good idea to apply it 3 times a day. Only if you're in the sun that much. If you apply it too much, you can break out. But I'm not sure if that's true, so apply it 15 minutes before every sun exposure to keep you from getting wrinkles, burns, and skin cancer.

Keep up the good work!<3

It's not a proven fact, and it probably doesn't age you. Sunscreen can irritate skin, but right now we know that it is worth the risk.
