For my upcoming Wedding, I went all out and got a great photographer but now a little less than a month away, i started thinking that maybe i should have a videographer but only for the important parts of the Wedding. I don't want the entire Wedding recorded. Just the Ceremony, first dance, cake cutting, etc..etc...I looked around at professionals and they still wanted to charge me package amounts, 1,500 and up. Heck with this. Fortunately, a coworkers daughter agreed to record the basics for us and is charging us 275. So, i wasn't going to have one but now i'm glad that i'll have the ceremony and some reception recorded. Maybe you can do something like this if you ask someone you trust, not a relative, i'm sure they want to see the Wedding from in front of the lens. lol. Sorry, i Live in Pennsylvania so i can't help with videographers in Toronto. Good luck though.

I marry my sweetie October 20th! WoooooHooooooo

Stacy my step daughter and her husband just married in July in Malton, not far from Toronto. She usedf a photographer and videographer and paid a pretty good price but was extremely happy with the results. If it is within your budget then I would say go for it. However, if it is going to be too much cash then there is actually no need for it. Years ago there was no such a thing as having your wedding videotaped and people would have only pics to remember this special day by, so can still be that way today. As for getting numbers it would probably be best to check the local papers and/or phone book. Also ask for portfolio and numbers of other peoples whose weddings they have been responsible for and call to get a reference on these people to make sure that they will do things as you want. Best of luck with finding someone to be your photographer as well as in your wedding. May you and your husband spend many happy years as partners and may the light of love always lead the way for you both.

I watched the video once and my husband has still never viewed it after 10 years. We assume our kids will when they are older, which is all it's good for. Ask someone who has a camera to put it on a tripod at the ceremony and tape the entire thing. Not hard. At the reception have someone record the introduction, first dance, cake cutting etc. Pay them $100 or something as a thank you. It will be a heck of a lot cheaper than hiring someone.

Yes if you can afford it, it is defiantly worth it. Photos are still great, but is is so nice when you have a live record of your wedding that you can watch whenever you want. It helps you to remember the day better when you can watch it. And a professional is so worth it because they will produce a good quality video as they know what the are doing and do it in an un-obtrusive way.

Honestly, I wouldnt hire both myself. Considering the money...you could save a bundle by having a few people bring their own video cameras.

I don't know anyone who has watched their wedding video more than once. Save the money for the honeymoon or a house. You will look at the picture more than the video.
