keep it light, nutritious and easily digested..a chicken noodle soup or a clear chicken or vegetable broth with a couple of attractive looking crackers on the side. If you want to pretty it up for a special occasion then very thin slices of spring onion (scallions) or of mushroom can be floated on the broth and you can get crackers with sesame or poppy seeds. Unless you are a great cook with time on your hands, don't bother making the soup yourself..there are plenty of delicious ready made ones in every store and you can look out for organic products as well.

Almost any soup which is easy to digest but keep it simple. Chicken, always a good base for many nutritious soups and shop bought are getting better and better. One I can recommend is a Lidl chicken noodle. Tasty and so quick easy, saving time, effort and money

I presume you mean appetising?
If they've got no teeth, then blitz it. I guess I'm approaching the stage of being called elderly. (b. 1943).
As far as appetisers are concerned, I would like a small glass of very dry sherry please, and if it's a hot day, then Bristol's market a Luncheon Sherry, which is served chilled.

Why would 'elderly' people like guacamole? Even spring chickens like me who haven't travelled the world don't expect their soup to be cold!
I once tried it on my ex-mother-in-law, and she wasn't impressed!
When you get older you lose your inhibitions. If the soup's too hot, you blow on it!
