When kicking the bag at the gym, i find i put everything into it, and the recovery is therfor slow... After doing the thai (roundhouse) kick, on the bag, do you snap your foot back to recover? When I do this, I find it has a lot less power, any tips/ideas would be gr8... (RE: thai boxing perspective pls, I am former mui thai, not karate/etc...)
Thanks! :o)

I used to try to power through the kick in Muay Thai.
But now, I learned a better way to inflict more damage and be quicker.
The answer is to have loose hips.
When your kicking, don't pur your muscle into it while it is being thrown because it slows down the kick.
By kicking with "loose hips", you'll see your power and speed improve drastically.
With great speed comes great power.

When throwing a muai thai kick, I find that it works best when you do a combination of power and snapping of the foot. It works kind of like this. You push into the kick with all your power, then, at the end, use that power to push off of the bag/opponent in order to return your foot from the kick. This way, the power used to push your foot back into position also increases your power and damage to your opponent.
