Talk with your doctor. Have you ever had gestational diabetes? If your blood sugar gets out of wack because of this temporary type of diabetes, it makes it harder for illnesses to heal. If you've never had it before, it's still possible that you could get it. Your best bet is to voice your concerns with your OB/GYN doctor.

Honestly, if i were you I would go find a GOOD chiropractor. I know its not back pain you have going on, but your immune system is tied into the nerves in your spine.

I had chronic strep as a kid, I spent most of 3 years on antibiotics. As a unrelated thing I went to the chiropractor when I was 8, he asked if I had anything more than back pain, and when the recurring sicknesses were mentioned he took it seriously.

I had to go in a few times a day, or every day, and then once a week, and then after a month I was done.

Iam 24 now and I've never had a bacterial infection since, never strep. Ever.

It sounds insane, but its not like you have another option staring you in the face... except antibiotics. Might be worth looking into.

Going when pregnant is fine.

In a way, your body IS shutting down. Your immune sys shuts down so that you don't reject the baby. I kept thinking I had a kidney infection, because of the burning when I was pregnant, but every time the doc tested my urine and it was negative. Turns out I had a yeast infection. I hadn't ever had one that felt that way. I'm not sure if it was the additional blood flow to the area or what, but I had several while I was pregnant and each time, he gave me yeast infection meds (not the pill, the cream) and the burning would go away.
Hope you feel better soon.
Good luck and best wishes.
