I dont mean he has to have a rifle or gun in this hand but he should at least be doing something. He has all of the secretaries so he basically doesnt have to do anything but tell them to do his job. I feel like if the president give orders to army and all of the other millitary groups, he should have to be in iraq something. How can he be give the label of "Commander-in-Chief" and he doesnt even have to put his live on the line or anything, while the soilders risk there lives everyday in Iraq. The president has a label on him as if he President is better than any other millitary person. Isnt everybody important down to the lowest ranks, if so why doesnt "The President" do any work. He doesnt even write his speeches. The president just has to much power i think the US should do away with the president completely.

I say that any president shouldnt have a label on them like that (Commander-in-Chief) if they cant live up to it. The generals should control the army and president should take the back seat when it comes to war.

Yall have been brain washed into thinking politicians are better than everybody else which is messed up if you think about it. I live in the ghetto so some of my next door neighbors dont even know when they will get there next meal or they lights were just cut off or something. But politicans can help another country but cant help there own. Why are so my people without healthcare, you say if the president did it will be total caous when its alredy is. When you have people out here homeless and people with millions of billions of dollars live in houses that have 20 rooms. You only need one room how can you sleep when you have 20 rooms when there is somebody out there here in america with no room. It starts with the leaders of this country. The president.

we are already at war with Iraq congress gave him the perfect back in 2003. The president can not declare war yet he can deliver troops everywhere he needs to he's the commander of the militia the only ingredient congress can do is shrink off investment.

The only president to actually be near the front lines during wartime as Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln stood visited the front line positions during the siege of Petersburg, Virginia. One soldier, reported to by Oliver Wendell Holmes, told him to get down from the paraphet, or "get your damn *** shot off."
National leaders have no business putting themselves at risk. No other leader has done so, despite the propoganda of Joseph Stalin, Kim Il Sung, or Fidel Castro.

No president in all our nation's history has commanded troops from the ground during his tenure. The title of Commander-in-Chief originated with George Washington, but even then he was only the commanding general of the Colonial forces. He was no president.
Why should President Bush put himself at risk in this way when no previous president has done so? Why should he be any different?

I don't know about you, but Bush bashing aside, I certainly don't want career politicians of either party actually pretending they are military leaders and taking an active role in leading our troops. The president's job is to tell the various departments in government what to do, and leave it up to the experts in each particular field to decide how to do it. When politicians actively try to run things, they simply screw them up.

No because he is to put it up to Generals, not himself. A lot of countries who lose a war were being commanded by a leader who had no experience in military tactics.

In the days of non immediate communications...it was true the leaders were on the battlefield..but technology has eliminated that so the leaders can lead at home and abroad.
Welcome to the 21st century.
That's about as stupid as asking if since it's illegal for military to have an affair and can receive jail time..why didn't Clinton get arrested and go to jail.
