the installer wasn't sure of the name of a product that we should use. Does anyone know of what to use?

a penetrating sealer (grout, tile and granite sealer.) We bought it at home depot.

May I recommed a good high solid epoxy like Top Secret Coatings 1 Part Epoxy Clear. Here is how you want to apply it. Begin by cleaning it with an etching cleaner such as Top Secret 695 Etching Cleaner which accomplishes the same as muratic acid without the dangers of sulfuric acid. Once clean and dry apply two coats of 1 Part Epoxy Clear reduced 40-50% with TS-101 thinner. It can be applied by brush, rolled or sprayed. For best results spray it. 1 part epoxy is self-leveling formula that has the highest possible rating for adhesion it is approved for food service applications and is non-toxic making it an excellent choice in this application. Unlike most epoxies it won't chalk, yellow or fade.
