Outside cats usually die from getting hit by cars or attacked by other animals. Inside cats usually die from old age or disease. Cats can die in as many ways as humans or any other animal can.

The cat mopes around and never purrs and is usually mean but only because they want to be left alone and might urinate somewhere else and not eat anything if any syptoms happen take to a vet imeddently that's what happened to my poor kitten Swan he urinated all over the kitchen and would only drink and then he couldn't walk and when I was feeding him he died in my arms I had given him his favorite chicken wings we buried him out in our back yard next to his friend Max who was a cat we had when we got Swan and they became friends but Max begane going outside and he got hit by a car.

Hi
I have only had one cat who died or natural causes. Well she cancer. She was fine for weeks eating ok etc, but she did start to look a little thin and would sleep alot. She also didn't want to be around us much anymore. Eventually she took herself one day and crawled under some rubbish we had in the garden. When we went to check she had died. So we got her out and buried her in her favourite spot in the garden.
I believe that this is normal behaviour when a cat knows they are dying, they tend to want to go off on their own. However i think it is quite rare for a cat to die like this as normally the owner will see the cat in some distress ie in pain, or not eating etc and this is when they are normally put to sleep. As this is the kindest thing to do for them.

Having a lot of ferals around, we see a bit of natural death. We usually just find them laying somewhere, like their favorite bed, looking relaxed, but definitely gone. They will probably have their eyes open, their mouths open a little and their tongues are out a bit also. I had a three year old pet cat up and die while playing with me one morning. He went to pounce, did a couple of flips and was gone. Nothing else. Just still. I arranged him in a little circle like they like to sleep in and placed him in a nice pillow case, then a box and took him to the vet and had him cremated. Old cats may go in their sleep, just stop breathing. Or make some groaning noises because they are having a heart attack. I found one cat who looked like she was having the best scratch ever, with a kitty smile on her little face, under a bush once. She was one of my favorite barn cats. I don't know what did her in, she wasn't very old. Some cats get real skinny and fade away. Some get real sick and can't control themselves any more in any way. These need to go to the vet for the silver needle and free ride to rainbow bridge as they can't seem to find it on their own. I hope this is what you were looking for....

My 17 y.o. recently died in my arms. I held her all night and she declined really fast. She actually died on the way to the hospital; I was going to have her put down but she went so fast on her own. She was always very smart and probably just knew what to do. For about a month she wasn't seeing well. She lost strength in her back legs slowly. Gradually she went all limp, couldn't swallow. It was truly a natural death.
I spent half a fortune on her the last month to see if there was something treatable wrong, but the vet said we can do supportive care, which was fluids and checking blood levels for kidney function, etc. I think her last day she was completely out of it, so I don't feel she was suffering at all, and I prefer a natural death since she wasn't sick or suffering. She was then sent off for a private cremation and I got her ashes back double-baggied inside a nice cedar box.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Well, I would cry if it was my cat.

I would prob have him cremated or...
have him buried in my back yard. But honestly, it has not happened to me yet, so not really sure what I would do. I would prob call my cat's vet first and find out what are my best options.

A lot of cats who are in poor health or about to die, they like to go off by themselves usually.

No matter what was wrong with the cat, the ultimate cause of death would be multiple organ failure, as with humans.

Take him/her outside and bury him/her, or have him/her cremated so that you can keep the ashes with you.
