We heard from a doctor that there is something wrong with her liver. She has a really big round gut, but she does not show any sign of pain. She threw up a few times the other day, but now is okay.

Anything I can do, or any idea on how she will be?

the doctor took blood and only said something was wrong with her liver. He suggested an ultra sound.

Her gut is abnormally big, but she shows no sign of pain at all, she only threw up a few times the other day.

Otherwise she is the active little cat she has always been.

She is only 7 years old.

Please, if you know anything that can help I would love to hear it, I love my cat so much...

Many times cats that are a tad overweight and are in your cats age group can get what they call hepatic lipadosis. This can be a serious situation. Cats are great at masking symptoms until it is serious. What hepatic lipadosis is or called in laymans terms is "fatty liver". A cat cannot go without eating very long. Sometimes this can come on alone from stress (something changed in the household) or hand in hand with something like cardiomyopathy. I would make sure she is eating and drinking every day (monitor her food and water intake), watch for vomiting and watch ESPECIALLY if she starts hiding... get her straight to a vet. Another area to watch is the color of her skin (check her gums and ears).. if they look yellow this is a critical situation. I used a high protein diet when one of mine did this ( M/D diet by Hills) and had to force feed with sub q fluids. But she really dived on me. She did survive and is doing well now.

If your vet has said that there is something wrong with her liver, then call him back, and ask about the following things:
1.) There is a diet out there that can help with liver function. it is a prescription diet from the vet called Hill's Prescription L/D.
2.) There is a medication out there called Denosyl, and it is meant to help the liver functions on cats.
3.) Take her to get an ultrasound of the liver, to see if there is a tumor in the liver that is causing the roundness to the belly.

A cat with liver problems needs medical attention, and it doesn't sound like the vet has given you all your options. You might want to seek a 2nd opinion. If your cat's skin, eyes, and gum color turn a yellowish color, then your cat may be in liver failure, and that is an emergency. Make sure she is acting, eating, and drinking fine in the mean time until you can talk to your vet. Good luck!

What exactly did her doctor say was wrong with her liver?
What were the veterinarians suggestions on how you could help her?
You should know these things - you paid to have your cat examined.
If you don't remember or didn't understand, ask him again.
If he didn't give you enough answers - go to another vet.

take your cat to a second vet, get another opinion, my cats was trowing up and the vet thought it was his liver but it turns out he had hepatitis, he's fine now but he still throws up and is thin. Keep track of your cats weight and how much she is eating/drinking.

Take it to a vet who will do all the necessary testing to rule out things that may be simply fixed.

The vet should tell you what is wrong with the cat and tell you how you can help.If they didn't go to another vet.
