She said the sound is almost like when a cassette tape messes up and is squeaky, playing fast. She states that it keeps her from doing her school work sometimes and is why she won't sleep in her bed at night. Any serious suggestions on what it could be?

My daughter is 4 and had a similar sound in her head. It was her ears! An ENT revealed that she had severely swollen adenoids and tonsils causing fluid to collect in the ear canals. She was almost deaf in one ear and had some hearing loss in the other. I would take her to the doctor first thing tomorrow. My little girl never slept through the night until she had surgery to remove her tonsils, adenoids, and tubes put in her ears. By the way, there were never any signs that she had these problems until she started complaining about the sounds. She also "slowed" down a lot. Before the surgery the hearing problems disrupted her behavior and now she is able to follow directions. Her preschool teacher stated the other day that she is one of the brightest students she has ever seen and noted the difference since the surgery. Good luck! Hope this helps.

She does has melancholy or some variety of character sickness in view that its been happening in view that she become so little. those variety of issues shouldnt be getting her down as much as they're so it makes her think of extra worse of herself and makes her sense extra hopeless. you prefer a real psychologist not a school coounselor if thats what youre using. a professional in self harm and undesirable esteem and issues like that is superb. satirically in the track industry you dont quite must be that stable a singer in recent times in view that a great style of artists use a great style of autotune yet quite with vocal preparation/coaching and working in the direction of her voice might get extra effective yet you will prefer a specialist for that. whether she cant sing that cant give up her from writing. easily the trick to having a occupation thats relaxing is to look at each of different categories of jobs then %. all of the stable ones out of those so as that way no remember what her capability or weak spot is she might at last land up in something relaxing. She sounds variety of immature approximately that paintings factor except youre speaking approximately her classmates and not her, i've got been given a splash puzzled there. yet even then the resentment for a ten year previous is quite unusual and immature. of direction i desire this isnt the case whether this is achieveable something befell to her that she didnt inform you and that must be why she acts like this.

I used to have the same problem, and my grandmother thought I might have had a mental illness. =P

But, seriously. She'll be fine, it's probably a problem with her ears. Try taking her to the doctor.

My problem was Swimmer's Ear, I believe, which is easily taken care of. It would worsen every summer when I would go swimming. Iirc, the cause was water being trapped inside the ear and a solidified build-up not allowing it out.

Good luck and best wishes with your daughter.

I'm afraid that my son said this and he said it sounded like race cars in his head. He was also 7 at the time. And couldn't concentrate in school. They wanted me to test him for ADD/ADHD because of this. Try this: we do not medicate. At night 30 min. BEFORE bedtime turn off tv in her room (if she has one). Read to her and also let her read. Put some instrumental music on for her to sleep better if you don't already. Now this is very important: Watch everything she eats. No red dyes especially. We also give our son Fish Oil (omega 3s) however it's quite a large vitamin so she might not be able to swallow it. Look here and see what others say.

i've no idea but it's a bit concerning. my first thought is that perhaps she has some water in her ear or an infection. have the doc check it out. the fact that it's keeping her from sleeping in her bed is also worrysome. not to sound nasty but if the doc can't find anything, maybe she could talk to a psychologist. good luck.

Consult your family doctor or pediatrician to do an exam of her ears. It may be possible there is fluid in one or both ears.
This can be treated with tubes to drain the fluid. Make sure your daughter gets a full medical examination.

I'm not going to assume the worst - it's most likely something wrong in her ears. I'd see an ear/nose/throat specialist to have him take a look.

take her to a doctor and have her ears checked.it is probably a build up of ear wax but there could be a spider or other type bug living inside her ear.check it out right away.good luck.

I agree, have her ears checked. If that shows nothing I would talk to the school nurse as well as the counselor. If they don't have a solution they can direct you to someone who can.
