Reds are supposed to stimulate the appetite. I would choose "foxy" by Sherwin Williams.

There really isn't any such thing as "the most popular color" for a dining room. Someone can tell you purple, but with what you own it could look ridiculous, making it totally useless information. And who is to say it is the "most popular"? The color trends right now are showing a lot of black & white, grays, and splashes of color (purple among them), but this just won't cut it for everyone. The most important factor, which will never go out of style, is that you have to like your own home. Good luck.

Pull one color from the living room [ say, drapes ], and one color from the kitchen [ say, the walls ].
Or paint the walls facing the living room the color of LR, and walls facing kitchen the color in there.
Add a centerpiece, and chair pads if desired, that coordinate with both.

Red is supposed to stimulate hunger, but I prefer it in the kitchen. I prefer to have my dining room in a pale sage - maybe stripes if you have a strong accent piece. I have also noticed that a lighter yellow ocher works well. Due to the low lighting in a living room faux painting techniques usually look incredible as well.

Have an accent wall dark sage green, other walls in dining room very light green. Almost close to white, hint of green.
