My mother told me about her poor upbringing and all the hard work her family had to do because they did not have a chance for education. She told me my grandmother was illiterate because only the sons were educated in that era. She taught us the value of an education. Yet she showed us to have pride in everything you did. Do your best was a favorite motto of hers and my grandmothers.
