No, religion is the last thing the world needs right now. Smart people realize we need to deal with our problems, not rely on some mythological figure.

Sadly Jesus is waiting giving people a chance to repent. Perhaps we would have been better off if He had returned before the end of the 2nd Century, for it was shortly after that people began to change His teachings, and to go on as if He were never coming back. Many talk as if they believe He is coming soon, but they do not act like He is! Whats wrong with this picture! Remember that the million that have died in Iraq (your figure not sure if it is valid) are only 1/12 of those that died at the hands of the Nazis in WW 2.
Jesus said that the Gospel must be preached to every creature before His return so if you are concerned to see His return join those of us like myself and Lady Sapphire among others that are working to get the message out. We are doing all we can to let people know, and to bring them to repentance before it is too late!

The world definitely needs Jesus and He is here with us every second of the day. Some people aren't able to notice this because they only focus on the evils and sins of the world, but fail to recognize all the good and love that is occurring simultaneously in the same world. God does love us, in fact He IS love, and that is precisely why He gave us all free will. We all have the free will to do good or to do evil, and yet some have chosen to do evil--hence, all the problems you see in the world and the examples you mentioned above in your question. We did it to ourselves. Fortunately, there are many people who choose with their God-given free will to do good, and they are making a difference. A lot of the media tends to discuss the crises, issues, problems, etc. happening in the world much more often than comment on all the works of peace, love, and charity that is also happening in the world, thus giving the public the false impression that evil and problems are the only things that exist in the world. As for free will, we also have the choice to ASK Jesus to help us; both to help the world and to help us in our daily lives. Perhaps there's not enough people asking Jesus for help.

Of course and that is the main purpose of Armageddon the instauration of God´s kingdom in earth as he says in Matthew 6:9, Jesus will rule the earth in the future (Revelation 5:10) cause right now Satan is the ruler (1 John 5:19)
During his 1000 years kingdom in earth
Jesus will eliminates famines (Psalm 72:16)
will eliminiate illness and amputees (Isaiah 35:5-6)
will resurrect all the people who died in wars (Acts 24:15 and John 5:28-29)
What Is God’s Kingdom

Jesus is not God, he is a human sent to us by God, He is a messenger and a prophet. He cannot do anything but what God tells him to do. No he's not dead. God lifted him from earth for him to live all this time. He will be back at the end of time and he (with Gods will) will be the bringer of peace on earth once and for all.
Untill then earth and humanity will be going through the ever lasting misery of this ending world only those who God has mercy on them will be saved or at least would be rewarded with eternal life in heaven for their patience during those hard times. Only those who believe in the one Merciful God Allah.
Many would say why would god leave us like this..the answer is that this whole life is a test to distinguish between those who have good hearts and those who have evil hearts. This is translated from the Holy Quran as follows: (Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which ye are now, until He separates what is evil from what is good nor will He disclose to you the secrets of the Unseen. But He chooses of His Messenger. (For the purpose) whom He pleases. So believe in Allah. And His apostles: And if ye believe and do right, ye have a reward without measure.) from Surat al Imran (surah #3) verse 179 . there are easier translations you can look up translation sites if you want more. you can also check out this site http://english.islamway.com/

You think those are problems? Just wait till Jesus returns.
Isa 13:9 See, the day of the LORD is coming—a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger— to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Yes, it needs him to fulfill the promises made on the isle of Patmos to John, in the spirit and flesh, and in the vision. He is indeed looking at you on the earth. The world has degenerated to a point where prophecy must be fulfilled. Have you not heard that the fabled Northwest passage has opened due to the shrinking polar caps? Man has become a destroyer of the earth.
I could name 1,000 other reasons that come from man which state he had to come now. And the war you speak of, this will lessen, and move, and strengthen, and widen, and end up on the field that is known as Armageddon.

Because it is NOT the appointed time for His return yet.
Btw, there have been wars, poverty, famines, earthquakes . . . and oh, missing girls throughout the ages.
Who's running the show anyway? You or Jesus?
And, this is a pretty simplistic question don't you think?

I know that it does seem like a long wait but some people are doing good amidst this carnage and hate. some people are loving and kind while others are showing God how bad they are from being murders to sexual perverts to out right monsters. When he does come back and destroys the wicked he will know correctly who they are.
when he makes a paradise earth he needs enough righteous people to fill it. Every time mankind starts making babies you don't know how they will turn out. He needed enough good people to fill the earth. When he gets enough is when he destroys the wicked and resurrects the good ones.
After Noah it didn't take long until they were wicked again.
Next time we will all be tested to be good people.
When the earth is filled with the meek people.

YES the world need Jesus!! He has given us the freedom of free will and there are many people who use that free will for harm...we need to stand up for what is right and use our free will for good. Yes Jesus will return but when he does there are going to be a lot of troubled people...if people don't believe in him now, when he comes they are going to be in for some shock...We need to straighten out our own lives and prepare for the second coming.

God gave man dominion over the earth and the things which you see and perceive as problems lay at the foot of man, not Jesus.
