My car (04 Accord) was in a accident (not my fault, someone hit me in the back when I was stopping in the traffic light).. he accepted his fault completely & the insurance co. (21st insurance) declared total loss for my car.

They gave me a reasonable offer which I would be accepting it. They as asking me to sign the title & the power of attorney. Is it OK to send the signed title to the company.

I only have the letter from the insurance co. that they would give 13k$ for the car in exchange of the car title & the power of attorney.

Should I send the car title immediately or how should I proceed?

btw.. I recently bought this car for $14K...
This is a used car..after the accident, the 21st century insurance co. is giving the offer for 13K... so this sounds kind of OK for me...

They are not going to pay you unless you sign the title and power of attorney form and send it to them. If they have extended and offer and you told them you accept, they will pay you once you send them the title (correctly signed).

So, if you want to get paid - send them the title.

First of all, how recently did you buy the car for $14? Weeks, months, a year or more? If it really was just a couple of months, you may be able to get the full amount unless you paid too much in the first place.

Check the current value of your car with the mileage, etc.

If you are satisfied with the offer they have given you, you can confidently sign over the title. They will pay you, especially as you have it in writing.

Unless it was a base model Accord their offer sounds kind of low. You should hire an lawyer to make sure their insurance company is not looking to cover something up since they are in such a hurry. Maybe the other driver was drunk or high.

Get a lawyer because the insurance company has many of them and you need your own to not be taken advantage of.

what is the book value of the a clean car / used ?

check kelly's blue book just to compare.

if it's a good offer , i'd go for it.

if it's too low then ask for more.
