A 14 year old boy playing his electric guitar quite loudly many hours a day. The vibration of the racket comes down stairs through the walls from up stairs. There is a constant boom or base sound. His music is not enjoyed by all.

After chores and home work, how many hours should the kid be allowed to play his guitar loudly, every day?

The electric guitar is blasted for hours and gives me a headache.

I think the noise causes stress to the kid, too, and he just doesn't realize that.

I think the kid should use plug in headphones so his music is not heard by others. Also, he could unplug the electric cord from the guitar, and play for unlimited hours.

Any other ideas?

thanks.

My first suggestion would be to talk to his parents about the problem. It you get no results from them, read your Apartment Rules(they are usually part of your lease). I think you will find there is a restriction on noise.

Well if you want to do it by hours maybe 2 after chores and homework. But you can also buy headphones for guitar/bass amp. They work great. He plugs them into his amp. and puts them into his ears and it sounds just the same but in earphones, not through out the house.

Well, that would depend. I think maybe 2 hours. In between 2 and 3. I don't know.

i'm guessing he isn't yours and you live in an apartment? if that's the case his playing needs to be limited. maybe a couple hours after school.
