We should not work on the Sabbath Day. The Third Commandment says: Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God so that we do not despise His Word and the preaching of the same, but deem it holy, and gladly hear and learn it.

This was on the seventh day that God rested, in the Old Testament.
We gladly hear and learn Gods Word . Every Religious leader does such a Great work of God, by preaching and teaching the Word of God. It is not considered a job, but a duty and a blessing to be able to spread the Word of God.
Blessed are they that hear the Word of God and keep it.
Luke 11:28.
He entered as His custom was, into the Synagog on the Sabbath Day. Luke 4:16.

Cindy, Sunday is a day of rest, and a time to reflect, pray, and observe God on this holiest day of the week. It is a time to go to church.

If the priest took the days off on Saturday and Sunday who would Preach, bless, Baptize, Confirm the parishoners?

It is his sacred duty given by God to do this work.

Priests do not work for money or are on salary.

Now, if you work in a mall, or conduct business on Sunday outside of church, then that is a sin. It is a day off you should take.

That was part of the old law that was put out of the way by the death of Jesus. We don't sacrifice a pigon when we have a child either. Or be unclean for 80 days if we have a girl baby.
some people work on Sunday and go to church on Saturday.
Some places hold services any day of the week.
We are not obligated tokeep any one day anymore.

Preaching is not a job. It is a career and a calling.
"Remember to keep holy the sabbath" has nothing to do with working.
Sabbath keeping was a command to the Jews, and sabbath is defined by the Bible itself, as Saturday, the 7th day of the week. .

The laws of the OT were thrown out through Christ's crucifixion. I'm not a Christian, but I have been in this forum long enough to understand that point.

So long as you have one day a week for rest and reflection it doesn't matter which day one calls sabbath.

Ofcourse the roman catholic pope changed the sabbath from Saturday to a Sunday.

Oh-Ho! That's always one of my favorite things to crab about! The preacher blabs on and on about not working "on the Lord's day", and then everybody says amen and goes out to eat at a restaurant! God, that cracks me up!

Actually, in seminary (UMC) we always had no classes or anything else on Mondays, because it was understood that everyone was doing their church-work on Sunday.
