Well, just tell this certain person that you are happy for him or her, and that you pray for his or her's best in her spiritual path that they have chosen. Maybe they're just wanting to show you how proud they are of their religion, and asking you to give it a chance. You must let him/her know that your happy with your faith, and happy for him/her that they have chosen their own faith.

LOL... that's a real hoot.
Good for her. But you seem to not understand this. There is nothing to discuss about atheism. The discussion is about how stupid and irrelevant religious belief is. Once you come to realize THAT, your (former) fellow christians point at you (like in 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers') and go "Hsssss... atheist... athiessstttt... hssss...."

politeness rarely works on fanatics, whether they be atheist or theist. maybe she's new to her beliefs and just needs time to calm down a bit. try politeness i suppose - you could point out that you (i assume) have your own beliefs that you are comfortable with and don't feel the need for discussion - but it may be necessary to be rude.

You could explain to them about why you feel so inadequate and incompetent that you must cling to irrational beliefs and primitive superstitions. Quite simply, explain that you aren't capable of participating in an intelligent discussion of this topic.

If she's just talking about her own atheism, then you can either listen or walk away. It's her right to be happy about her atheism.
But, if she's also trying to convince you to agree with her, then just tell her you're not interested. That simple.

Then don't discuss it unless she brings it up. I doubt that she is parading her lack of religion. You've probably been taliking god and she has objected that means not interested.

I doubt you will offend an atheist by saying you don't care to discuss her non-belief. Generally only the theists get offended when you reject their attempts at conversion because it reminds them you are (passively) attacking their delusions.
