I was inspired by a white and black wedding cake with red roses seen here:
http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l238/onetruqt/535437126_f8c274eda2.jpg

And decided to use these colors for my wedding. I know I don’t want a tradition wedding. In replace of tull, flowers and other boring material used I want to use feathers, mirrors and beads. The typical just wont do so I really need help coming up with unique ideas. Just to give you an idea: for place cards I found theses really cool ball and chains and painted numbers on them attached is a card with the person name on it. PLEASE HELP ME no idea is to far out the box. thanks :)

One of the reasons why your cake is so striking and dramatic is because of the red roses carefully placed as an accent. While you may see flowers as being boring, you could certainly choose an arrangement or reception decor that is anything but ordinary.

Wedding Programs/Invitation: (Perhaps you could tie a red ribbon instead of black on the first one)

Reception Decor:
(Rather than on a white table linen, you could order black.)

Your cake is GREAT - Ours was in the replica shape 3D of Niagara Falls - That is where we got engaged... Black for the Bridesmaids is Very Classy - I have seen this done many years ago at a wedding that I attended... Idea to mull over is to have the guests write their names / well wishes on flat stones - You can purchase them at any craft store - and use a paint pen - In your case BLACK... You can do a special drawing towards the end of the night with maybe 5 super prizes... Dinner for 2 etc.... We did this and the guests loved it - We did this instead of the "Typical Favors" that Most people get rid of after a while - Good Luck to you and Once Again - GREAT CAKE>>>>

Also what about this idea - We had live fish in fish bowls for the centerpieces - The guests got to take them home as well...

My cousin had a very traditional wedding and the bridesmaids wore black, so that is perfectly fine. As for the dress, your ideas are good and I completely support being unique, but try not to overdo it or you might end up looking like a harlequin. Look up seamstresses in your area or on the internet; they will make whatever kind of dress you want and help you with ideas.

ok first off i LOVE that cake!

putting your bridesmaids in completely black might look a bit draining in the photos, so why not black and white corsets like the cake with a red skirt,

i know a lady who makes gift boxes to any design spec you want, and i know she does corset style boxes with ribbons, maybe put something like that on the table as your wedding favours with sweets or trinkets inside for your guests,
feather center pieces sound cool for the tables, maybe incorperate some silver too just to add a bit of sparkle, i can see a lot in my head but cant quite get it into words LOL
instead of a bouquet hold long stemmed feathers, wear feathers and beads in your hair, oh heck just add me to messenger(same id) and we can chat!

I am a non-denominational minister, therefore I am not bound by any creed or dogma of a particular church. I perform "spiritual" ceremonies should a couple want their marriage blessed by God. I call it God lite. :) And I also perform civil ceremonies as well. I am currently working on a ceremony where the bride wants "romantic-God lite" To find an officiant type into your search engine Grand Rapids Michigan wedding officiant (no 's' on the end). You should have your choice. Also you can contact AAWO; they have ALL kinds of officiants registered with them from pagan priestesses to rabbis & notaries.

What a GREAT cake! FABULOUS! I LOVE IT! (Ignore the people with rude comments - your wedding ceremony does NOT reflect your level of committment). Dress the girls in Black - I did even in red & black. You could also do something kinda "Moulin Rouge" in theme - maybe corsets to go with that cake - that would be great! Good luck & happiness!

I have one suggestion for you, my bouquet was a pomander style, I had roses and feathers but I think it would look really nice with all feathers and some flowers made out of wire, that sounds odd but look up on google, wire flowers, you should see what I mean.

Feathers, mirrors and beads make me think of a carnival. I think the bridesmaids in black, with he maid of honor in red might look neat.

In response to your emphatic statement that you don't want a traditional wedding, I ask you this: what about the MARRIAGE do you want to be traditional? Do you have even a couple of things? I.e. fidelity? mutual support? love? children? religion?

Well, know what you want to be serious about, and whatever you do in the ceremony, make sure those things that are important to you are addressed seriously, and not made fun of. A wedding seals a legal contract, so it should be undertaken in that spirit. Of course, lots of fun at the reception, but you really shouldn't undermine yourself by unwittingly making fun of something that's important to you.

For example, when I got married, at the reception the best man (my husband's best friend, whom I didn't really respect all that much but got along with okay) presented me ceremonially with a large wooden spoon, that I was to use to keep his friend "in line." Well, I'm VERY opposed to hitting and violence, and he asked me to pose for a funny picture while my husband bent over and I pretended to hit him. I refused. They had to settle on a picture of the best man mock-hitting the groom (neither one can seem to make a marriage last, 19 years later, big shock there!).

I like the feathers in the bouquet look!

A friend of mine will marry soon. Her bridesmaids will wear black dresses and carry red roses.

And here is a centerpiece idea. Of course, you can change the colors.

And I like your cake. Thanks for sharing that pic.
