Take away the win. I'm tired of teams cheating, start really hurting these drivers. Then maybe the teams will pay attention.

AND #99-Carl Edwards' race-winning Roush Fenway Racing Ford failed postrace inspection Sunday at Dover International Speedway. The right rear of his car fell below the 1/2-inch tolerance for height, NASCAR said. The victory most likely will stand, but Edwards' team is expected to be penalized later this week. Team owner Jack Roush said that there were no changes made to the right side of the car and that he believes NASCAR will find the car is bent. He added it was his understanding that the right-rear was 3/8ths of an inch low, which doesn't make sense to him. Although this is a car of tomorrow entry, the likely penalty does not fall under the tampering-with-COT rules since the structure of the body has not been manipulated. The question NASCAR now will have to answer is what did happen. The sanctioning body is taking the car to its research and development center in Concord, N.C. for further review.(SceneDaily.com)(9-23-2007)

Since NASCAR said it wasn't a deliberate attempt to break the rules and the fact that it has no bearing on speed, I think Osborne will get a $25,000 fine and Carl will be docked 25 points. That would be in line with previous penalties. Penalties are more costly in the Chase than they were before.

That's kind of a weak basis for a penalty. I don't think that was intentional, being too low in the right rear wouldn't give you an advantage anyway. Edwards was probably driving his car so hard on the banks that it squatted the suspension.

Hmm. At first I read that and thought that he might lose the win to Greg Bifle but since it wasnt a COT penalty they wont fine him the usual. However, I think that they will fine and deduct points. Which is good for Carl considering they didnt take his win away. I think that it might be a fine of like $25,000 and 25 points but definitely less then 100 all around.

Come on think about this for a minute Dover is one of the roughest tracks out there Parts are going to wear at 160 mph for 4 hours straight there should be no penalty i could understand if something was found before the race I think the inspection for suspension parts are are about stupid but that's just my opinion

The win should stand because I don't thnk having a low rear corner is an advantage. However, because of the rule infraction, 40 points seems sufficient.

Yes the right rear fender was too low. They wont take away the win but will dock him probably 25-50 points.

They are going to take his car the R&D center in Concord NC to look it over. But they said they didnt think that it was something that the team did. But if they find something that the team altered it will be a big fine. Points and lots of $$$$.
