I would say yes, gotta be. My ragdoll has freaked out in the middle of the night more than once and scratched the bejeezus out of me, which I can only figure is from a nightmare. He's so cool though, I can't get mad!

everybody thinks i'm loopy for asserting it, yet definite, our cat has nightmares. he's exceptionally much 9 years previous and for the previous couple of years, he now and returned wakes up yowling and runs to me. i've got by no ability heard of yet another cat doing this. (None that i've got ever had in the previous did it.)

I suppose if they have a memory, then yes. Nightmares or dreams are usually visualization from memories. They can get all mixed up and make no sense, but memories set them off.

I don't know if they get nightmares, but they definitely do dream. Nothing simultaneously funnier and more unsettling than watching a sleeping cat lash its tail and twitch all its paws. :)

All animals are able to get nightmares.
Not just cat's..
I have a dog who would whine at night when she had a nightmare.
Cuddle with them until they feel comfortable to get back to sleep.

I suppose they do. My cat sleeps peacefully most of the time, but sometimes he jerks and wakes up, meowing and looking frightened. I just pet him, until he falls back asleep, purring.

That would neccessitate them having some kind of certral processing unit [cpu] and they just don't have one. They might, and probably do have the thoughts but nowhere to make sense of them or even recognise that they have had them....... I've thought about this in depth. As I've thought about most everything....... Don't laugh, I got well above A+ in advanced mathamatics. [The highest you can do before going to uni]
